Do you still think finishing a degree is important?

I read an article earlier this week about one very striking likeness in many of Forbes multimillionaires: they all dropped out of school. My question is this: given that such is the case, how much do you still value finishing a degree? Is it still important? Why do you think most of the world's richest man dropped out of college?

i did not read this book.in my view i finish my degree for enjoy the process not all for a certificate. Not everyone can become a millionaires. most of the world's richest man dropped out of college because the time they made their fortune did not need too much knowledge .they can learn what they want from the society by themselves but can we do that ? i think the real millionaires must have superior than others or he will be in danger . at the same time the times have changed .the time we lived is different form the old ones .

of course, it is. not every one is as smart and as clever as those who are now successful today. some really need to do study and research, being successful takes a lot of hard work, innovation, creativity and study. so, as for me, it's very important to have a degree so that you will have an idea on what to do once you have actually plan to be successful in life.

I think it is still important to finish the degree. I think it is the basic requirement at the beginning. You need it to get a good job and then you can have money to start your own business later. Bill Gates is just an exception and actually not many people who dropped out of school can be so successful. I love China

Many are blessed being a dropped out of school because some of them have a talent in discovering the way to success. Some of them have the determination to get rich no matter what. They are not quitters and maybe that is their fate to be rich as we called it from rags to richest. Still getting an education is important because knowledge earned can't be lost unlike wealth or money. Richest man dropped out of college because they did not like to study, lazy in terms of routine school assignments, not bookworms, fed up in schooling, etc. One of the presidents in our country was dropped out of school and yet he succeeded to become a leader.

Doesn't that make you think that there is something extremely wrong with the current educational system?

Hi,my friend,I think that in today's society, the ability is even more important, but the degree is also very important to some extent, the school culture is the persom who will learn, but it does not train capable people.I think the world's richest man give up their studies, perhaps they felt their studies hampered the development of their abilities.they seized the opportunity to make money.Opportunity usually determine one's life.

You have a point. I live here in the Philippines and our educational system is so poor, it's making me nervous about my country's future. I guess you are right though.

The question is not what those multibillionaires quit school or not. The question is whether they send their children to colleges. With the pace of life, every ten years is a different world. The world that allowed them to get rich without degree may change. The future billionaires may need more than a degree to succeed. So the point is, if the billionaires send their kids to college, then they are not confident that we can succeed without a degree.

getting a degree is still very much important for these days, people without a bachelor's degree could hardly find a job.. those millionaires who were just dropped out from school are just intelligent and wise...

hi mynestegg, i think it is still important to finish a degree. as there are so many richest men dropped out of college, but it was a good time for them, there was so much things to be developed at that time, and the system was not complete. there are still some richest men in china that did not well educated. but time is different now, it needs more knowledge in this world to be succed.

I still think a degree is important. Only a small percentage of us have the opportunities, focus and all the other attributes necessary to be a millionaire. A degree gives you opportunities that aren't available without one. For example, there were several times when I got a better paying and easier job than I would have without a degree. I earned a bachelor's degree late in life and so I have something to compare. It was difficult to complete but I don't regret it. My quality of life was better after my degree than before.

You have to finish your education. It's one way of proofing to yourself you are not a quitter and you can do it ! It will help you get a better minimum wage once you start working, and if you are not married jet, it will sound good on your wedding invitations. Rich kid drop out of school because they can afford to do it. Whatever happens, daddy will take care... Anyway, the important part of going on higher education is it trains and expands your brain cells, teach you to think systematically, evaluate objectively, and not to mention the new network of friends you will be making, that might help you start your ladder of success in the future.

I think in our country everything is about getting a degree. It doesn't matter if you don't get a job or just get married after that. Just get a degree. The diploma looks good on the wall. But I think if there isn't a course that offers anything for your interest, you can still learn and practice your craft without the the degree. Take programmers for example, a lot of very good programmers I know learned their stuff not in the University but through lots of practice (and of course, internet). I think most of the richest men the world dropped out of college because college was a box that hindered their growth. Pioneers are like that, they tend to do things out of the ordinary.

Even though there are a lot of online businesses available like what my entire family is doing, you still have to finish that degree so that you can have a job or business then do online businesses simultaneously
