I was watching the documentary last night on the history channel which made me think back to when this happened. I was in school in the first grade and the teacher was motioned to come out of the classroom. She returned in minutes in tears and told us what happened. I started to cry. I was turning 7 years old the next day. For you older mylotters where were you when JFK was assassinated?

I was also in school when this happened. I was in the fifth grade and our school had an intercom system. The principal came over the intercom and he announced that president Kennedy and the governor of Texas at that time had been shot. I remember how shocked we all were!!! The principal even turned a radio on over the intercom for us to listen to the news. We also had television sets on in some classrooms. I remember I had a doctor appointment in Birmingham that afternoon, which is the nearest big city to where I live, and everywhere we went we saw people watching the news on television. Everybody was so sad! Mother had been watching her soap opera when they interrupted the program to announce that president Kennedy had been shot. I will probably always remember this. Kathy.

I remember also that we were sent home early and people were crying all over the streets. I was crying on the school bus and on my way home. It was a very sad sad time. I not knowing any better thought the world was going to come to an end. How silly I was. Thanks for responding.

Now that I think about it, we were all sent home early, too. Of course, I had been planning to go home early that day, anyway, since I had a doctor appointment. Kathy.
