Armegeddon is the name for it used by the Book of Revelation of the bible. But it's basicly the same idea the Mayans had that the world of man is sure to end.. (They figured in 2012, if I'm remembering correctly.) Nostradamus was big on the end too. To me,'the end' began when thinking ability was endowed to man (and angel, according to the bible). Because thinking ability or rationality, includes the ability to make choices.. Thus a whole new world (or tree) of possibilites came to be.. And ever since Cain slew Abel (and even sooner) the apocalypse (collapse) began. Armegeddon is actually what is called the last battle in the last of man's wars. It is to occur in the Middle East, when the "armies of the world surround Jerusalem" or Israel... It's an extremely fiery battle, sounding very much like thermo-nuclear warfare, but was written of and described in 90 A.D. almost 2000 years ago. (Also in 2 thess 1:7) - The idea that man's flawed world (built largely upon untruths and errors of perception, to say nothing of outright selfishness) will not collapse is highly optimistic and also illogical. - Isaac Newton studied some numbers in bible prophecy and came up with a date around 2060 as an approximate date.. which is the closest I've heard that makes the most sense.. (allowing enough time for certain things to fall into place, described in the book of revelation, but which i also wrote a book about). I've studied some numbers too (mostly Daniel 12:11,12) and I figure the last battle, and 'the end' is about three and a half years, plus 45 days, after they destroy the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem (mt24:1,2).

Armageddon is a word which derived from the Hebrew language which consists of two words, namely: 1. "Ar" which means mountain or hill 2. "Mageddo" is the name of a valley in Palestine, which this valley is the battle to come, which will run from the "Mageddo" in the north to the "Edomites" in the south which is about two hundred miles to the sea and the white in the west and the eastern hill Mohab at a distance of 100 miles.

It comes from this Bible verse: Revelation 16:16 (King James Version) 16And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon. It only appears once in the Bible, though a desccrition of what it is is found in many other Bible passages. To understand the meaning a bit better, let's put the verse in context: Revelation 16:13-16 (New International Version) 13Then I saw three evil spirits that looked like frogs; they came out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet. 14They are spirits of demons performing miraculous signs, and they go out to the kings of the whole world, to gather them for the battle on the great day of God Almighty. 15"Behold, I come like a thief! Blessed is he who stays awake and keeps his clothes with him, so that he may not go naked and be shamefully exposed." 16Then they gathered the kings together to the place that in Hebrew is called Armageddon. So it is an all-out war between the demons and mankind that opposes God against God Himself. Most of mankind will be destroyed but some humans (an unnumbered great crowd, see Revelation 7:9-17) will survive and under God's direction will build a new world where love, brotherhood, and peace will exist.
