Christians, where in the Holy Bible is your description of Heaven?

While not all Christian denominations teach the same thing about what Heaven will be like, most seem to agree that we will spend eternity worshiping at the feet of God. That's all well and good, but that doesn't seem to match what is taught in the Holy Bible. In the Book of Revelation, we are taught that we will be invited to join Jesus on the throne as He sits on the throne with His Father. In other words, we might start out bowing at His feet, but we won't be staying there.

I am still in Maccabees so that means I have not covered the whole of the Bible yet. So I couldn't answer your question yet. And I wouldn't want to jump to Revelation to seek out the description of heaven. But logic does not agree with your bowing at His feet conclusion. In any case, I would like to take Jesus' parables about the kingdom of heaven just as Jesus likened them to say, the mustard seed. Ain't the metaphor descriptive enough?

It doesn't say that we'll be bowing at the feet of God forever.

I mean that the Bible doesn't teach that we will be bowing at God's feet forever.

Here is an interesting verse to meditate on: Luke 22:28-30 (New International Version) 28You are those who have stood by me in my trials. 29And I confer on you a kingdom, just as my Father conferred one on me, 30so that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom and sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. Notice that some are invited to rule and judge with Jesus. But who will they rule and judge? Notice this other interesting verse: Revelation 5:9-10 (New International Version) 9And they sang a new song: "You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation. 10You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth."

Very good! Also, compare that to: 21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. Rev 3:21 Doesn't sound much like we'll be bowing at God's feet forever. Sounds more like there we'll be invited to sit with Him.

How about earth being God’s ‘boot camp’ in preperation for enjoying heaven’s blessings, and being returned with assignments for the “new” heavens and the “new” earth ? Just a thought

Thanks for responding ClassyCat! Your thoughts on these verses? Psalm 37:9 (King James Version) 9For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth. Psalm 37:29 (King James Version) 29The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever. Psalm 115:16 (King James Version) 16The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD's: but the earth hath he given to the children of men. Matthew 5:5 (King James Version) 5Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. Is the earth man's temporary home or is it man's permanent home with just a few going to heaven to rule the earth with Jesus? If one reads from Genesis to Malachi, very little is said about heaven. Jesus introduces heavenly life. But is heavenly life for just a few chosen ones so that they could form the government that will direct matters on earth and restore the Paradise that Adam lost by sinning? Your thoughts please?

I find it hard to put so much of myself--faith-wise--into anything. The way I see it: If I seriously question any aspect of any religion, then I'm already excluded from the heavens and the afterlifes and the paradises, etc. I have respect for respectful people who choose to believe in whatever religion they so choose, but I don't have any aspirations of bowing at the feet of a god. Does that mean I'm doomed to have pineapples shoved up my rear by Satan?

Fortunately, I'm not the one who makes that decision, so I can't tell you where you'll end up.

Spiritual matters cant easily be understood by the mortal mind, to understand fully, one needs the guidance of the spirit. However in my opinion, by far the most important is getting into Heaven bowing at Gods feet is to small a price to pay for God accepting our sinful nature to live with a Holy life Who cares what we would be doing in heaven as far as we get there

To me, if it's in the Holy Bible then God must have wanted us to know it. True, knowing things in the Bible probably won't make the difference in being in heaven or not, but well, God did take the time to make sure the information was available.

I read an article that said that Heaven was a few football feilds long, and it was an excerp from the holy bible. Which means that heaven is more than likely packed to the brim. Unless everyone is stacked on top of eachother. I know that I am not looking forward to that, how about you?

Jesus came to the world not to condemn the world but the world through Him might be save. So it means that Jesus' mission in this is to redeem us and remove the conflict between the Jews and the Gentiles. That the salvation is for all human race. Jesus did not even change the Laws in the Old Testament than the other said. We must obey the Law from the Old testament and in the New Testament. No exemption. Not only the New testament but the whole Holy Bible. "Bi" means two right?

Thanks for the sermon, but could you give one that is on topic? :~D In the case of the word "Bible", "Bi" isn't a prefix. Bible simply means "books".
