Have you had any experience working with a disable/handicapped person? I had once dealt with an external auditor who actually had no legs and with hands only up to his elbows! But I'm really surprised by his determination in trying to be as normal person as he can be. When I showed my sympathy on his disabilities and trying to help him in finding the audited files, he said that he was there to serve the company and he should do it himself. Seeing him picking up thick files from the cabinets, going through each pages with his hand (believe me with no fingers at all!!), counting hundreds of certificates manually etc really makes me appreciate how lucky I am having all the limbs. I had told my kids to really value God's gift to us because normally people only regret what he/she had lost once its not there. Please share your experience.

Sara Special Olympics Winner - Join in the fun by volunteering for The Special Olympics... This gives all handicapped people a chance to compete with others in their league. How rewarding is the smile on this child's face...!

I have worked with people of all ages with disabilities, both mental and physical since I was 14. I started out volunteering at a summer camp at a hospital for handicapped people. I then was a candy striper at our local hospital. I was a nurses aid for my first job. I was a driver for several schools and workshops for the disabled. I then had an adult family home for disabled adults...like foster care for adults. I then worked for an agency as a Program Manager, Support Neighbor and in a workshop as an Employment Specialist all with disabled adults. I have seen so many successes (and not) I love helping others live a "normal" life by helping them overcome their disabilities....so rewarding. You should look into it...volunteers are always needed in all communities..good luck. Brightest blessings, Mar1 Here is some more information http://specialolympics.org/

ya i have had the oppurtunity to see and work with people with physical as well as mental handicap.i truly believe that they are differently abled rather than disabled.they don't need our sympathy but rather expect more humane treatment. i think it would be a gr8 thing to allow school children to mingle with them so that our future citizens are well sensitised
