the belief in a higher power...

lots of people tend to shy away from discussions on religion. but for me whatever your religion is, it is a belief in a higher power, which different religions have different names for. but for me what is important is your personal relationship with this higher power, which others will call faith. i do not consider myself religious. i dont even go to church. but i have a firm belief that there is a higher power who watches over us. i guess this belief or faith is what we all hold on to in times of trouble. when thinking about my problems, i find myself talking to this higher power, much like a how a child talks to his imaginary friend, and what others would call praying. and while in this one-sided conversation, i often find peace even though i am plagued with problems. i know that different people have different beliefs on this subject. some don't even believe there is a higher power, which makes me wonder if you do not believe in a higher power, how do you deal with all the hurdles, obstacles or problems in life?

yeah i have to agree with you, because someone who dont atten church doesnt mean that they dont belive. i do belive in higher power as of God and Jesus. people failed to see no matter what religion you are we all belive in God of our choice. it does say in the bible in roman 99 thy dont have to go to church to be saved or reborn again or even worship God he understand why dont

yes, he knows what is in your heart. and that is what is important to him. i used to go to church but, people are sometimes too pushy and expectant especially in certain churches.

yeah i know what you mean to me most of them are fake. they worship God and then treat others wrong being hateful and then try to use the whole church thing as an excuse why they did it. and then they are the ones who is first to judge others who is different then them.

I agree with you. There are lots of people I know who go to church often, attend mass every Sunday, but are evil inside. Faith isn't just based on how often we go to church. And no one can ever judge us just by the number of times we attend mass. Faith is in one's heart. Only God knows.

hello, the main reason why i avoid religious topics is because i don't want to have a confrontation with other mylotters.debates usually rise when ever they're too much disagreements and it lead to violent words with other, not the they will use the rating system for a pay back. but of course, i wouldn't mind responding to a discussion if it doesn't lead to hateful debates. we never run out of problems but there's always a solution.with God's help of course

yeah i can see where you are coming from with that, i think most people on this face of the world they get so upset and hateful just because they are not the same as them, and then want to run other in the dirt for that reason. to me if you are different then me, i will still show you the proper respect as long you show me it back. and we dont have to push off what each other bleive in whatever. to me someone who's different is more interesting then someone who is the same as me with whatever

You cannot have a personal relationship with an imaginary being. What do you say to homeless, starving people around the world when you claim that a "higher power...watches over us?" Obviously, the higher power doesn't watch over them, so you must be special. How does an atheist deal with the hard realities of life? The same ways that most people deal with reality, only without an invisible means of support. The truth is that, regarding some of big questions in life, NO ONE knows. That includes self-proclaimed religious and moral experts. We're all in the same boat.

I guess that's the reason why a lot of people snap out of their minds and go crazy. They don't have anything solid to hold on to and lose hope. I'm happy to know that you're a believer of a "higher power". Though, as for the religion, isn't it that religion is your personal relationship with that "higher power?" Ain't it best if you have the BEST relationship, hence the BEST religion? Remember, there's always parallelism. If there's something good, there's also something bad and most of the time that bad appears to be good. "Negative power" uses religion to mislead people. Better be careful and know more your religion. Happy Mylotting!

I am a firm believer in evolution but like Stan from South Park said "maybe evolution is the is the answer to how and god is the answer to why" even though its a cartoon the message sticks. I believe that something created life in order to evolve, While that kind of sounds contradicting it does make sense to me.

I believe their is more supreme than humans and they are being named as God. Although I have never seen one, still i believe all the beauty of natures even the presence of human beings as one could analyze something invented all of this without human intervention cannot be easily duplicated. The air we breath is a good examples for those who do not believe in God by pinch their nose they could feel their breathlessness thus it is good to believe in God whtever religion one .

Hi, friend. Firstly, i also believe in that higher power, the supreme power that u r talking about. I call him God(well, as u said, the name doesn`t matter). But, for me, believing in God is not religion. Moreover, i believe that nothing like religion (in the present sense) exists. To me, what exists is the base of all the life (the only entity that the God grants us in the beginning ), and that is the common preaching of all so-called religions, i.e. LOVE, the only religion in the world. To adhere to what we believe the God has taught us is religion (u may give any other name), not just to believe in him. Happy Mylotting!!

Belief and faith are a must. They keep us going when times are rough. I think you don't have to belong to a religion to be spiritual. Many of the esoteric schools in Asia, don't believe in a higher power which is outside of themselves. They believe all meditation and prayers are directed inside to awaken their real nature. I am reading a book called "I am That". It is about an enlightened person from India, who speaks about the natural state. He says there really is no separate "I" or person and when a person wakens up to that, all they have left is love and compassion. There is only one higher power (or Absolute), which is running everything, but that our egos are not real. It's pretty heavy stuff, but I don't agree or disagree with the author at this point. I thought it would be interesting to mention it in this discussion.

religion is an endless discussion but for me you don't have to be religious just to show you believe that there's a high power, just do the right thing in everywhere, everytime, and from there it will show that you believe that someone is above you who is the creator of everything and that is faith.
