In doing some research on FEMA camps and just what the government is up to with these very obviously made for internment camps, I came across this article in the NY Times depicting Explorer Scouts, (Boy Scouts) as trainees for border patrol. While there is a disclaimer of sorts that the boys are being trained to take on the traditional roles of police and firefighters and that the training is not to be taken outside the simulated Explorer Scouts setting...there is a chilling comment by one trainee that made the hair on the back of my neck stand up; Cathy Noriega, also 16, said she was attracted by the guns. The group uses compressed-air guns — known as airsoft guns, which fire tiny plastic pellets — in the training exercises, and sometimes they shoot real guns on a closed range. “I like shooting them,” Cathy said. “I like the sound they make. It gets me excited.” SO WHAT IS REALLY GOING ON HERE, IN YOUR OPINION: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/05/14/us/14explorers.html?_r=1

Hi Debra. I finally had the opportunity to read the article and your opening is a little bit misleading. The Explorers program is a coeducational affiliate of the Boy Scouts of America that began 60 years ago. While the program does train interested youth for traditional jobs such as police officers and firefighters, boarder patrol agencies as well as the FBI are also part of 12 career-related programs that they offer, which also includes those focused on aviation, medicine and the sciences. This does not resemble Hitler Youth to me in any way.

So, for sixty years the Boy Scouts did fine without the government stepping in. And now they are training youth to shoot Mexicans and using Homeland Security to do it. Great, no problem.

The lie is so thouroughly engrained in our daily lives that it is difficult to discern...to judge what is right or what is wrong. I have faith...that in the end TRUTH will win out.

Just as Hitler got the support of Germany's youth during his regime, Comrade 0bama is trying to get the support of our youth. These kids is his version of the Hitler Youth, and are part of the Civilian Security Force that 0bama referenced during the campaign. Read some history and see how well the correlations match up.

Shades of Hitler youth indeed. Can't we let kids just be kids?

Think about this...if Obama was only concerned with the welfare of this country, why would he be seeking to persuade the future generation of this country...to believe without hesitation in the power and control of government enforcement? To train someone in being prepared, you do not have to brainwash them with the homeland security agenda. You only have to teach them physical skills necessary to survive and to protect. Teach them character and ethical behavior as one of those skills. The Boy Scouts have been teaching boys this sort of thing for generations without government help. Why now, does the government step in? What have they got up their collective sleeves?

Debrakcarey, I don't get it .. Since 2003 FEMA is in charge, among others with also : - law enforcements; - disaster preparedness and recovery; - border protection; - civil defense. Is (re)designed to be first response stakeholders ... There for is no surprise, no news. We had something very similar in comunist times here (and was a practice in allcomunist countries), yet under another symbolic name: Preparing Youth for Homecountry Defend. Elements of police practice, fire fighters, natural disasters, physical training and .. using fire arms !

What is alarming to me, and I believe others in America, is that the Boy Scouts have stood for God, Country, Family and personal character...now it seems that the government has a hand in it...this will be circumvented and God, family, and character will go by the wayside. ON the surface, its sounds wonderful for young men to be prepared to defend and protect...but we both know that this can be twisted to the governments agenda or tyranny and oppression as well.
