Does having a clean house make you happy?

So you feel better when you have everything organised and in its place? Why or why not? When you lived with your parents, did they make you clean up after yourself? Do you think that your cleaning habits, are a reflection of the habits that your parents instilled in you? Why or why not?

Hi Crivas,
I can't stand it when I see my house is dirty especially the floor.
I will sweep the floor everyday, make sure it is clean all the time. and will do the mopping two days once.
Currently I am staying with my in-laws,for I never clean up the windows,it is done by my mother-in-law.
So far, I only clean my own bedroom for floor and window.and also my own bathroom.
I wash my bathroom once a week and window is cleaned once a month.
It goes same to the curtain,I wash the curtain once a month too.
I just need to see my bedroom in tidy and clean all the time, I feel happy and it keeps me stay fresh throughout the day.

Yes it certainly does make me happy to have a clean house. I have always been a neat freak. My parents did make us keep our room clean however, it was hard to do when you have to share your room with two other sisters who were not neat. I don't think it has anything to do with my parents I think I was just that type of person who liked things in order at all times. My daughters didn't turn out like me at all. Even though I taught them to keep things clean and in place. They didn't take it into adulthood for some unknown reason.

Yes, it does, because things are easier to find. Also things aren't in the way or have to be moved twenty times a day to another spot. I believe it does make you happy especially when you can sit down and relax afterwards and not have to worry.

Yes it does make me feel better. If my house is not tidy I feel anxious and aggravated. I do try to keep things in their place but I must admit that I am terrible at dusting! I was feeling that way yesterday. The house was a mess and we had things laying around in the living room (the new baby keeps things interesting around here and has added lots of extras in the form of diapers, wipes, and accessories). We created a space for all of the newly needed items for the baby in different areas of the home (babies room, living room & bathroom) but yesterday the wipes and several toys were out in the living room. I had to clean all of that up and make the living room presentable again. I especially hate a dirty kitchen. I love to cook but I do not like to cook if the kitchen is not organized and things are in place. We moved to this new house back in May and the kitchen is way smaller. I do so dread cooking in it. My parents are not very organized people. When I was younger my mama was organized and cleaned more than she does now. Currently I feel as if my mama and daddy are both packrats. I would not like to live the way they live now. Too much stuff and not enough room.

A clean house reflects the people who are living in that house. I guess every house is supposed to be cleaned otherwise why we would want to live 'inside' the house. I do feel happy and satisfy if the place is well kept. It really brings a peace of mind seeing those things organized, but for those who have little kids, I know it is difficult to maintain the house.
My parents especially my mom always makes sure that everything is in order. I am not sure if my sisters and I are influenced by this because I think my eldest brother can live in cave!
Just joking, but seriously, he is just so lazy to do the cleaning.
