Tonight I'm going to a pumpkin carving party! Can't wait! It's going to be a lot of fun. Do you carve pumpkins each year for Halloween? If so do you just carve a face and make your pumpkin into a jack o lantern or do you go all fancy when carving? I'm not that fancy, so I typically just carve a silly or scary face!

We just finished carving pumpkins with our kids on saturday and although I wish we could do all of those really awesome carvings that you see others do and think how in the heck but I can't. All I can do is the basic jack o lantern faces of triangle, squares, circle and half crescent smiles. My kids are eight and ten and they seem to be alright with that type of carving but I know soon enough they will be wanting those awesome carvings but they will have to buy them like that LOL because I can't even come close to anything like that.

get a little hacksaw blade. it makes it much easier to carve curved lines and fine detail as it's much more manoeverable than a knife. that's how I do more complicated designs

Oh a pumpkin caving party sounds like lots of fun!! I carve punpkins with my kids every year! I let them pick out what they want, my favorite was when my daughter was 3 we did Dora's face, it was the cutest thing ever!! Well not really but I loved it! lol We have done a spider on a web, a cat on a fence...and thats all I remember! I don't know what we are gonna do this year but I'm excited! It's hard work but in the end they look so cute!!

One of our neighbors has a pumpkin carving party every year that we go to. It's always a fun time and afterwards all the kids run around out back in the dark. We usually just do a basic somewhat scary pumpkin face.

I like to do very detailed pumpkins. not so detailed as when people leave the skin but shave it to different thicknesses, but quite detailed cutouts. I always do a lovely silhouette of a witch flying across a full moon, and last year I also did a jack skellington. I want to do oogie boogie too. lots of other ideas too. if you use a hacksaw blade, you can get some really fine detail in your carving

I don't get into the carving but my daughter and her husband will be doing it with their 3 year old daughter. They brought 4 big pumpkins and two small one. They will be making the fancy carving on all of them. I will supply the candles and it will be fun to see the pumpkins lit up in the dark. Its all for my granddaughter.

I carve a pumpkin every year for halloween. I will just do the common jack o lantern face.
