Hello all, I have released a beta version of software that will decode the data encrypted in the filenames of Mars Exploration Rover (MER) images.
It is called MERDAT. It is an encrypted self extracting executable with the password 'freddo'.
You will need to enter the password when the self unzip begins, if you download the MerdatBeta-Sample.exe file at the bottom of the page. Go to my website, the link is at the top of the main page. The beta download contains a few images as samples to get you going, the software provides links to NASA to get or collect more images.
There are also 2 zips of Martian image themes, one is a collection of clouds in the Martian sky, the other is a collection of images taken at night of the Martian moons Phobos and Deimos moving through the Martian sky. At the moment, free for all, as it is still a beta release.
The software will also display in stereo an image pair if both left and right eye images are present in the softwares image directory.
It will also calculate the exact time and day and month and year, Earth time that the image was made, and display the approximate time of day on Mars when the picture was taken.
I'd love to hear some feedback from some of you Martian addicts out there.
The download size is approximately 4.5 MB.

Cheers all.
