How do you know what they stand for? Really

I just want to know what makes you vote for a person? Do you really know what a person stands for when your voting them into office? Do you really think that they will try and do what they say they are going to do? I like to know everything about a person when I am thinking about putting my vote for them. It kind of worries me that these people that are trying to get into office are really what they say they are and do they really mean to try and do something about the problems they say they will fix or try to fix.

Hi Sknsknskn. When someone is running for some office they tell you what they think you want to hear, so how do you know what they say is what they mean? I just can't see voting for someone I know nothing about.
