How do you make your choices? Long term or short term results?

A lot of people make their day to day decisions based on what will happen immediately. Others think way ahead and consider all possible outcomes that may result from the choice they make. Personally, I find myself in the latter group, thinking ahead often months in advance. For instance, if I took a day off today, how long would it take to make it up, and when would I be able to take a vacation as a result of how long it takes to make up the time? I know...maybe I think a little too much! :)
For that matter...how many of you consider the outcomes of your choices in an eternal perspective? How many can make choices based on a "third party experience", where you basically are watching yourself make your decisions with the ability to see the outcome before you make them? When God plays back our lives in front of us, there will for sure be choices we made that we are ashamed of...on the other hand, keeping this in perspective, would that influence the way you make future decisions?
So where do you find yourself? Can you see the future outcomes of your choices, or do you "live for the now"?
My encouragement is to make your choices based on an eternal perspective. Think you can do that? Give it a try and see the results of your choices bear fruit that begin to lay your treasures up in heaven...
Have a great day!

..well, there are decisions we make daily that only affects our affairs throughout the day.. of course there are considerations for long term and short term results.. And for me, it would always be nice to carefully think before making decisions so that we won't regret anything afterwards.. after all, our decisions and choices are what makes up our lives and what brings us to either happiness or loneliness in the future..
