Would you ask someone for money?even though you have borrowed money before from them as you had no food and no money for bills.Would you carry on as normal and not worry about them and hope that they will go away or would you try to earn some money some how even if it working for a small amount on the internet.I never have that problem,as i tend to keep up with the bills, but i know there are people out there that do.

I do not ask for money. I will find a way to make money to get food and pay my bills. If you know somone who does this, they are bums---rif-raf, sorry as dirt. There is always ways to get bills paid and institutions to help with food. There really are jobs out there even if it means flipping a burger patty and serving french fries. No job is beneath any of us at this bad economic time. Just go to work, learn to do with what you make and if you have to ask for help, pay it back really quick. I'm a different generation and was taught to pay my bills and not ask for money.

I have borrowed money to pay bills and do not appreciate you trying to say that I am a bum. It is not my fault that the economy has gotten bad that people are being laid off or having their hours cut back. My husband's hours have been cut back drastically to the point where we are lucky if he can get 10 hours a week. He has an old military injury and has to be careful with what he can do. We have been fighting the Veterans Affair for years to get more disability. The VA claims that my husband's back is worse because of his old age (he is 44). I too have been looking for work, but no one is hiring. I have a college degree in education and have not found anything. I have a degree in teaching and with the school districts having a hiring freeze it is hard. My husband and I own a home and we are just barely making the mortgage payment. I never said that a job is beneath me. I live in a small area in Idaho where there is no transportation and we only have one car. It is close to winter time and I cannot drive in snow because my reflexes cannot handle it.

Read your own discussion-- I did not call YOU a bum. If you are serious about paying bills and not having to borrow, put on your coat and boots and walk to town and find any job that pays.Anything. Borrowing money becomes a habit. The VA is going to fight you. Keep at fighting them. Our economy is not going to get better. Take that to heart and the degrees you have earned are best left til next Presidential elections is over. Work is work. You sound young and healthy and are smart, don't fall into borrowing traps.

hi jugsjugs^^;; as much as possible i will never borrow money to anyone so if i were in that situation i would try to work even a bit just to pay those bills. i know they won't be gone and the more i wait, the more they add up and the more it's difficult to pay. i know one friend that always have overdue bills and adds up until 3 months and even being disconnected..sigh. i think the interest added each month for 3months is enough to pay another month. so it's better to pay the bills on time. I can't understand why people tend to spend more than they can earn. some prioritize buying unnecessary items like clothes and cosmetics to think that they are starving.

We are on the most bare of bare bones budgets right now so that we can get ahead in the long run. The unnecessary items are out for us, and the bills and groceries are in. I never realized as well that if you are very cost conscious, you can buy a ton of groceries for very little money.

hi dora^^;; nice to hear from people that saves like you yeah we can save if we wanted to. i learned this myself. i've never been struggling before but couldn't save because of regularly going out with friends or co-workers. now i learn to stay away for sometimes and save the money instead. we really should know how to stretch our budgets and don't go beyond what is needed.

Hi jugs How are you today? I have been in that position to where I was able to pay the bills but didnt have enough left over to buy groceries and gas for the car. We went to my husbands mom and asked to borrow some money to get us thru the next two weeks. This was during the time that hubby was laid off. Now that he has gone back to work, I have included his mom in on the bills to be paid. We almost have her paid in full. Good disucssion. Keep smiling.

You are alot like us in some ways, only my husband wasn't laid off, just cut off as a way of speaking. He went from easily bringing home over six hundred dollars a week to bringing home just over 400 a week and that is enough to put a strain on even the most generous of budgets. We've added my mother to the list of bills to be paid and in a sense paid her back a large portion of it by including her credit card (she and my husband were co-owners) on our debt management plan. Then, we are paying her back the rest as we can afford it. It is great to be able to have parents that we can ask for help if we need it. When I went to my mother and asked her for help, I learned that I wasn't a failure because she and my dad had had to do the same thing when they were young and in their first house.

It is something that all people are having problems with now days. The price of stuff keeps going up and the money gets smaller. I know we will make it because I have that desire to make things work out. Have a great day and keep smiling.

This year has been difficult for us in that we did end up in the situation that we didn't have money to pay all of the bills a couple of months. I went to my mother for help and she was more than generous in helping us when she could. I felt so stupid and so down about the fact that I'd screwed up so bad with our budget. However, we'd lost my small income and my husband had also lost all of his overtime pay at that time. We have finally enrolled in a debt management plan that is slated to get us out of credit card debt within three and a half years and this first month on it has been a struggle for us, but I know that things are going to get a lot better and we will be able to pay back all of our debts.

Well done.Like you said it was not your fault that there was less money coming into your house.Where as other people spend their money on things that they do not need then they find they have no money to pay their bills.

Hi jugsjugs, I would say that never we had such problem in paying bills, but I can say one thing that we do borrow money when needed and give them back. It is common for all those people who get less income.

very well put KMaroon. We borrow if needed and pay back as soon as we can. Money and jobs are so scarce right now because of the economy. It has been hard on my husband and I. It has gotten to the point where I do not sleep at night and my husband's blood sugar is so high (he is diabetic). He does not eat any sweets and we watch his diet, but because of the stress he goes through at work his blood sugar is always high. You are lucky that you do not have any problems paying your bills. We have been threatened to have our power shut off if we do not pay our power bill by the 19th of November. To tell you the truth I am just as scared as my husband is, but I try to hide it because I am afraid of making him sicker. If you have any ideas on how to make extra money online please let me know.

well pride will only hold you for so long, borrowing is not the best solution, one must renegotiate one's bill pay due dates and stop spending for the time being, make more money somehow, honestly and make do.

I am struggling to pay my bills in credit cards and loans. As my salary is not enough for me and I have many debts. But in order to avoid to make it harder i do think of a better idea to help myself to pay those bills.I do online earnings and what amount I might earn in this I use it to pay my bills. As of now I do everything to make ends meet.

hello jugsjugs, i can say that i have no problem at all paying our bills. infact, i am paying it before our bills arrive. this way, i can not use the money in buying things that are not necessary or unwanted expenses. besides, i am using only one credit card to make sure that i don't go beyond my limit. and i do always monitor my expending. that way, i don't need to worry paying my bills.

Hey jugs! When you borrow money from someone you had better make sure that it is not from someone who is related to you or a friend! If you know that you are not going to be able to pay it back, the I suggest that you don't borrow it at all! I have made sure that I have never borrowed money from anyone except credit cards and that is trouble enough! They are still chasing after me no matter how much money I give them it still is never enough! I would never borrow money from someone that I know for that very reason! It might take me the rest of my life to pay back the money that I borrowed, but at least it isn't someone that I have to face!

I always go online and schedule any bills that arrive in the post each day so that they will be paid when they are due and the only thing for me to do is to make sure I have enough in my account to cover them. If I were to run out of money I would use my credit card first and contact my parents when that runs out!

No!i won't ask some one to raise money to pay the bills.Like you,I cope up with the bills and if I can't I won't use that service at all for the time being.Earning little amount in internet will not be sufficient to pay the internet bill even. So,restricting yourself the usage and managing to pay the least bill amount is the best solution.Cheers!

I would probably ask to borrow money IF I desperately required it and I had a decent relationship with the person I am asking. As I grow older, I find myself having much less money to spend on the things I wish to buy than before, and NOT ENOUGH money to spend on the things I need to pay off (bills and such). Growing old sucks sometimes :(

My husband and I are struggling badly. His boss claims he cannot give my husband more money because of the economy, which we later on found out was a lie because the new guy he hired three months ago is full-time and gets paid a very large salary. My husband had been with the company over two years and cannot get ahead while this new guy who has only been there five months gets paid more and was promoted. My husband has more experience and has more education. We have had to ask our Bishop for help which has not been easy for us. We were hoping not to have to ask, but we do not have much of a choice. We are on food stamps which helps us out with food, but we cannot get health insurance and my husband needs it because he is diabetic. Also, we were told we do not qualify for welfare because I am not pregnant. I have been looking for work since I graduated college in July.I have a degree in education and there are no teaching jobs because the school districts have a hiring freeze. I have even applied for seasonal jobs so I can money coming in for bills and the holidays. I do belong to a few survey web sites, but I make almost nothing. I have signed up here and have not been getting a lot of money. If you have any ideas on how I can make money please let me know. I am in dire straits right now.

I would hope somebody borrowing money would find a way to pay it back before borrowing again. I do not like borrowing, it just leads to more money problems.

I would try to make the money online. If that didn't work then I would ask for help from a family member but I would try hard to make it myself first. :)

I would not ask someone for money. I would do any kind of work available and trust in divine providence to see me through. But to that I should add that I plan very long and work very hard to make sure that there would not be a time of struggle, because people who do not think ahead and make some sacrifices in advance almost inevitably end up having hard times later.

I try my best not to borrow money from anyone. But this month, something happen and my father gave me some money and once I got my payment, I immediately paid him back. I felt burden if I lend someone anything and wanted immediately to pay that person money. I try my hardest to maintain my financial goodly so that I don't have to borrow from anyone.

I am in this situation at the moment, I literally do not have money to buy food this week. I do not spend frivolously, I was laid off and my husband works for a non profit full time, which pays the rent and most bills. We have just had medical bills etc that have mean't our income is not enough. For this paycheck of my husband the rent is $50 more than the check he gets so there is nothing over. My income paid for food, and I have to pay these medical bills out of my unemployment this week. I have not ever asked for money from anyone, just can't bring myself to do it - but my best friend has sent me money before via paypal, saying its an 'early Christmas present' or whatever but I know it was just to help, bless her! There is a working persons food pantry near us, for people working but struggling, or unemployed and I am thinking of going therefor food this week. I am just trying to get over my pride overdoing that!

My husband and I are struggling financially right now. My parents help out as much as they can, but we are still struggling. My husband works part-time right now (20 hours a week if we are lucky)and I have been looking for work. I have a Bachelors Degree, but unfortunately with the economy being bad I have had no luck finding a job in my field (Elementary Education). I also do a couple of surveys, but unfortunately I do not make that much money.
