How often do you buy clothes for yourself?

I don't buy clothes that often for myself. Maybe a new top or pants once each summer or winter. I guess maybe I should treat myself a little better with some new clothes a little more often. I feel like I'm always buying clothes for the kids though. They grow like weeds and nothing ever fits the next season.

Hello Shar. I like to buy some clothes once in a while, especially when I pay a visit to our biggest city in the province. I love to go to the downtown area for some garment shopping. Every season, I pay a visit to it and if I am lucky enough, I can always get some nice clothes that give some discounts to us customers. This summer I bought a few clothes for my son and he likes them...

Sounds like you have some good stores where you live. We always seem to be needing to buy clothes for the kids don't we?

Hi Shar: I used to buy clothes for myself on my birthday, on christmasts and else when something special happened in my life, for example a special meeting, a wedding, etc.

Not too often; The last item I bought was a dress I bought to wear to church around August that I saw in Belk's. It was something to look nice in coming to church and that was the last item I bought for myself. Week before I bought a couple pairs of underwear that I could truly use. I also put some clothes in the dry clean as well. There are too mnay other needs out there beside me worrying about a dress and so on.

I don't buy clothes that often either, I hate clothes shopping, nothing ever fits right and nothing looks good on me. I recently lost alot of weight and my old clothes are getting too big, I do need to buy new clothes, but I don't want to. I did go shopping a couple times and I still couldn't find anything even with losing weight, nothing fits, it just reminded me how much I hate shopping..lol.

Hello shar19 I do not go shopping as some people do.What I mean is I do not go just to buy a single piece or two. What I do is wait for sometime and buy clothes that will be enough for a year or more,as I do not change my clothes with these so called "Fashion". I will go to different shops and check on the prices and the quality. And I always try to buy clothes of good quality although it is expensive and I will buy 15 to 20 pieces.Buying clothes this way is very satisfying for me as I will not be going do shopping so often and lot of my time is saved. And most of all I will bargain for a good discount and that saves me some money. This way may be a bit odd but it works me very well.

I might buy myself clothes if I am at a garage sale, or run across a clearance that I can get them for about nothing. I buy lots of clothes for my kids also.

I agree with you. I also love bargain hunting at thrift stores. A lot of times the tags are still on the clothes.

Hello Shar19, I agree with you. The kid grows very fast. I always spend my shopping time looking for something for my son and husband instead of myself. I only buy clothes when I really need too. I always feel I don't have good clothes at home but whenever I do my shopping, I always think the opposite and end up buying for my son, most of the time!

I think also when we're moms we feel that we shouldn't be spending money on ourselves.

I buy cloths only when something wears out, I hate to shop for clothing and avoid this as much as possible. I wear jeans and t shirts most of the time so there is no need for anything fancy. Llamas don't care what you wear as long as you look the same as you did the last time they saw you.

Hi jahernadezrivas: you're from Mexico, nice to meet ya! I'm feeling the same these days because I want to buy a t-shirt from one of my favourite bands- Keane- but i still don't have the amount to buy it. It's so frustrating. Hope I'll have a happy ending. Lol. XD

Like you, I buy mostly clothes for the kids who seem to be outgrowing everything in 3 months. This also goes for the shoes. My daughter who is 12 wears the same shoe and clothes size as me. Maybe, when the clothes are out of fashion, I will get her hand me downs as I don't buy that often clothes for myself. The occasional shirt, skirt, pants are bought on clearance but otherwise, I have the same sweaters, jeans, jackets and cardigans for nearly 7 years now.

I don't buy clothes as much as I did before. I only buy when I need to go for special functions like weddings etc.. I have few tops and pants that have neutral colors and stick to fashion that has longer staying power.

That really does make sense - keeping the colors neutral. Everything goes with that.

I love clothes and I think the past years I've really overspent for my clothes. I'd buy new clothes every pay day and somehow as I saw my overloaded dressers, I realized I should not do this. Now I am gone wiser. I only buy clothes during special occasions like Christmas, birthday, and other important parties I really have to look good. I don't go to the women's dresses section anymore when I shop I just go direct to the grocery section then go home straight after. I don't wanna be enticed with new style of clothes anymore. I think I should rather save my money for something more important. While clothes are also important, I think having just enough is enough.

Like you,I don't purchase new clothes for myself often.I don't celebrate birthdays and festivals with new clothes like others in our country.I just buy new clothes when the clothes I have are worn out to the worst. My fancy is towards the electronic goods to which I don't mind spending often.Cheers!

I probably go shopping for myself at least once a week. It's pretty sick, but at least HALF of my paychecks usually go to clothes. I love clothes, handbags, and the like. It's a passion of mine, I guess you could almost say. So I make sure to at least go mini-shopping at least once a week. Besides that, shopping is definitely RETAIL THERAPY for me - when I'm stressed with school or work - finding a cute top always cheers me up. I also LOVE buying cute clothes for my little 7-year-old sister; she has about a million pairs of jeans and cute tops thanks to me. So I'm not 100% selfish. LOL. I also thrift-shop occasionally for used clothes, which I don't mind. *shrugs*

true thing my friend. When we go for shopping,it always ends nothing for us(mothers)we only look for our kids. Same with me,as my kids were growing,so,every season we need to buy new clothes for them. And this really gives me a hard time budgeting everytime the school time starts, new uniforms and new outdoors clothes too.
