They are trying to make very sure a woman wants an abortion. A questionnaire asking why she wants the abortion, if she can't afford the baby or another reason. Requiring doctors to walk the woman through an ultrasound and explain everything about the baby to her, plus other things that educate the woman and help her make an informed decision.
I approve of this. So many women have abortions and don't realize until later what they've done. They become depressed and even suicidal when they realize they've killed their child when they went to an abortion clinic that told them nothing about the life inside them, just vacuumed it out or gave them drugs that would destroy the baby's body and force them into labor to expel it into the toilet.
What do you think? Is this a good law or a bad one? Why do you hold that opinion?
This is not a discussion to bash people that believe in abortion. I'm just trying to understand the parameters of those that think that abortion is okay. For the record, I'm all for abortion when it's the result of rape or incest.

In all actuality, I think it's kind of funny that the women seeking an abortion haven't asked themselves these questions before getting pregnant.
Some people use abortions as a form of birth control and constantly make repeat visits to these clinics instead of using something to prevent getting pregnant in the first place.
If someone can't afford birth control, how could they afford a kid? better yet, how could you afford an abortion if you can't afford birth control?
As always stated by the late Ann Landers....Abstinence is the best form of birth control.

This is a very good law. So many women are forced to have abortions by their parents, he scum (excuse me, the boyfriend who wants s*x before marriage, and his own pleasure but does not want to support the result.), and women who think that having their figure or career more important then babies, and those who feel that people who are unable to have their own children are monsters and it is best for a woman to have an abortion rather then give them to those people ]
There is a lot of help for women to keep their babies. There are Crisis Pregnancies in every major city where a woman can get a crib plus some clothes for her baby and the law will make sure that the father pays.

You mean anti-baby murder groups don't you? When we first got married, and after a year of trying, we applied to adopt a baby but there were none available. We were not able to adopt until three years later, and we could not get a newborn as we were too old but we did get 3 month twin boys. We also had visitors about the same age or maybe a little older, and they had also tried to adopt but were unsuccessful. So it is hard to adopt, and much harder now unless you have lots of money and can adopt internationally, or unless you are so perfect and have no past to be ashamed of, and are young and healthy, you are out of luck.
Oh yes and you have to have the same idealology as the social workers themselves.

I am so sad for people who want children but can't have them. The women who kill their unborn children are beyond my understanding. Why not have them and give them to the people who want them so badly? This is a good law that should be in every state but our pro-baby murder groups say it is a violation of a woman's rights. I don't understand that.

I am keen to see some countries and states reduce the number of abortions. Therefore I think that the Oklahoma law making really sure that a lady wants an abortion is very good indeed. Hopefully the result will be that far less ladies in Oklahoma will be an abortion. I have looked into the reasons why some ladies have abortions. 98% of abortions are for social or economical reasons. Just 2% of abortions are because the lady's life is in danger or the baby would be severely disabled. I was offered an abortion at 36 weeks pregnancy. I said no way but think that the hospital could have given me information about support for disabled people. I was in shock and all my energy went into getting my home birth.
Myself: I am pro-life and wouldn't ever have an abortion.
Others: Some ladies need to have them but I would like to see the number of abortions considerably reduced.

I would like to see abortions reduced, too. So many women use abortion as birth control, it's just sickening. As if a life were a piece of trash to be taken out.
So they offered you an abortion? How did everything work out for you? I could never have an abortion either, but I can't bring myself to judge a woman and tell her what to do. I'm just glad they will finally get the facts in Oklahoma!

Hi dragon54u,
I entirely agree with you. An abortion can be done only when it is the result of a rape. It is true that many women do not know the baby in the womb is equal to the bay in her hand. I think the questionnaire will help the hospital people to know about the reason of abortion and can prevent if it unnecessary. In fact most of the abortions are taking in place of small clinics especially if there is any secrecy. Clinic people are greedy of money oriented they don’t bother about the unborn baby and the mother of the baby.
I do hope the authorities will take care of the enforcement of Law which is lacking in our place.

In my country, children are not treasured at all. Parents are careless, they let them run wild and then scream and cry when they are murdered by pedophiles. I think sometimes that abortion is a kindness to them but then correct myself and think of all the good parents who truly love their children. Abortion is so evil, it's murder.
When a person commits murder of a pregnant woman, he or she is charged with 2 murders. So why is abortion not murder? The politics in my country are strange, dictated by what is most convenient and profitable.
I thank God I never had to have an abortion or were even presented with the choice. I could not do it and don't see how any woman can.

hi dragon I really think its a very good law since this is
'a step that cannot be undone once it is over. and just to
wantonly destroy life because a woman was careless, well
it does just not sit well with me. I think abortions should
be done only in rape cases or to save a woman's life or as
you said in a case of incest.

It seems we're on the same page. I have always been puzzled by our laws about murder, that they didn't include the unborn. At least with this law, a woman will be fully aware of what she is doing.

Hi dragon54u,
You haver made a very nice post about a difficult subject.
I think that whether you are pro or against abortion, it is something so important that you must know exactly what you are doing. This holds true for every mayor desicion one has to make in life. I am very glad that in Oklahoma they teach every woman that want an abortion what that is so that she can measure the pros and cons with knowledge.
Take care!

Yes, it's a very difficult subject. I would never want to be in the position to have to decide whether or not to get an abortion. I don't think it's right but I don't have any right to tell someone what to do. In a perfect world it would not be necessary. Have a great day!

Yes, I agree with this, in fact I think it is mind blowing that this isn't done already.
I have to say though, I am a bit fed up with hearing about adoption as an easy alternative so much. I am adopted and spending your life knowing you were given away is not that much fun either. How about we actually teach abstinence instead of making fun of people who want to wait until they can be responsible for a baby? Or people grasping the concept of contraception, or heres a thought - taking responsibility for their actions!
Ok, I realise this is my 'perfect world' version that isn't going to happen, so for now I will just agree, a law that at least makes it harder to EASILY abort is agood thing.
