Well, i don't really ever see ghost but i see them a lot in movie, television and magazine. I just wonder, why every country seem has it own unique ghost. For Example in my country, beside the reguler ghost ( A ghost of people who are dead ), we has Pocong ( i upload the pic ), tuyul ( a bald ghost kid ), Buto Ijo ( a big green ugly monster, it has scary face, big teeth ), etc. I know this ghost only known in my country and ( maybe ) in area around my country. I also know that some country also has it own ghost, like vampire ( it is different from dracula ) in china, chupacabra in mexico. Do You know why this is happened? How about ghost in your country, and if you can, please upload the ghost pic also. Thanks

Just as every country has its version of gods to represent good, every country also has monsters to represent evil.Ghosts represent unknown phenomena which man puts in a supernatural category and thus sees these monsters as he sees them in his subconscious mind and categorizes them differently. He portrays them thus in different forms. Every where the psyche of man has created such forms and therefore they are known by different names worldwide.

There are 2 kind of wayang in Indonesia ( Although there are wayang orang, which not used puppet but man instead ). Wayang Golek and Wayang Kulit. Wayang Golek are a puppet show using wooden doll puppets that are operated below by rods connected to hands and a central rods that run through the body to the head. Wayang Golek really good at imitating human move such as dancing and fighting. Some Dalang ( Wayang Golek Story Teller ) also some time make a special effect to the wayang like making it is puke, make the head blow, etc, it is pretty cool actually. Wayang Kulit are a puppet show using a puppet from skin ( kulit mean skin ). Wayang Kulit is also known as wayang shadow since the viewer actually only watch their shadow. Most of wayang golek show ( i don't know about wayang kulit cause i hardly ever watch them ) usually feature a few raksasa ( giant ) as an enemy. This raksasa face really are usually what people think of buto ijo. Both of wayang kulit and golek show is interesting. Wayang Kulit is more popular from wayang golek although i more prefer Wayang Golek since i like seeing how the puppet dancing and fighting. Ok, hope that's help.

Ghost are supposed to have evil spirit in them and everyone in this world has their own unique idea of ghost. What may look like a ghost to someone may look like a clown to someone. It is always your inner fear which comes out as a ghost. In India there are several types of ghost like vampires, witches Dracula to name a few.

Yes, some Foreign Ghost that i see on movie actually not scary at all, at least not to me. But for their, that ghost is very scary. Well, maybe if they see ghost from my country, they might will not be very afraid. So india also have it's own unique Ghost. Thanks for responding to this discussion.

Rather than seeing different ghosties, I see a common thread that runs thru every culture, tho we represent it in different ways..fear of the unknown, fear of subjegation from something/one outside of our control, fear of not being in control of our destiny..What's interesting to me is that most everyone has something to represent bad, but not always something to represent good.. enjoy!

Yes, fear is very strange. If we don't know about something, we tend to fear it. And i also agree, that everyone usually has a view how bad should be represented but they rarely represented good. Well maybe because people tend to think about bad thing instead of a good thing. Thanks for responding to this discussion.

Well, i don't say it is a real ghost. But it is more then how people in certain country think how a ghost might look. And like you said, different faith, languages, mind, culture and more will be make a result of a different way of how we think a ghost look like.
