From a scale of 1 - 10 and also explain why. I've noticed many problems have occurred with Norton, and one of friends told me that Norton blocks their msn messenger. Is this true?

Norton may be good for security but i needs a lot of resource to dedicate for it that makes the system slow for a normal desktop users , Thus i dont prefare nortan for home users it may be suitable for the business users with a suitable high configuration .

Anyone give any rating to Norton but I will definitely give 10/10 to Norton.. Hats off to the best antivirus.. you can see from people's responses that whoever has use Norton once, have given 8,9,10 ratings.. and talking about MSN Messenger, your friend might have installed Norton Internet Security Suite which blocks all the outgoing data, he can exclude MSN from Norton settings.. Good Luck.

I had norton once when I bought my laptop. The thing is it is quite heavy and will certainly use up a lot of your computer memory. I have changed from different anti virus but now I am sticking to what I have been using for a year already. I am currently using avira. I find it light, fast and very effective.

Norton dont trust any software which are installed before norton. Many time our running software like msn messenger have unknown content due virus attack, they are running but norton find that unknown content and block software. I give 8/10 to norton according security from virus.

Speaking from personal experience I'd rate it in the 2-3/10 region. I had it previously installed on my old Dell laptop and found it to be very poor. I asked a few people about a different solution to Norton and they advised me to try AVG or Avira both are free but come with the option to buy a more thorough seaching full version. The paid for Norton was awful compared to the freebies they picked up lots of things Norton didn't and scan took nowhere near as long to complete. The only thing i liked about Norton was the ease of use but I wouldn't compromise security for ease of use or buy it when I can get better for free. Maybe its for some people but it just didn't float my boat....

i give it a 10 , norton only stop's mails they think are harmful to your computer. a few weeks ago when mylot was having problems every time i tried to get on norton blocked a trojan trying to get in so im very happy with it. a few years ago maybe 5 i had mcafee and it let a virus in that crashed and burned my new laptop , from then on i had norton with no regrets.

No zero rating? That's what I'd give to Norton - it's rubbish!

I use Norton antivirus myself, Norton 360 to be exact. I'm very pleased with this product and I haven't had any problems with it. If I'm to give it a rating then I would give it a rating of 10! I don't know whether it blocks msn messenger or not as I don't use it. Overall I think that it's a very good product to use. I constantly keep it updated and as long as I don't suffer any problems I will continue to use it for many years to come. Andrew

1/10 People still use Norton?!?!?!?! Norton is too resource-heavy (it can make fast computers really laggy/slow) and is really a rip off for what you pay for a mediocre virus scanner (~100 bucks for the premier). It is very bad, and I do not doubt that it may block certain applications, but that is a firewall setting so it is easily fixed. I suggest that if you have it you should check out other services like: Kaspersky, Eset Nod32, or Bitdefender BitDefender has been rated the 'best' antivirus for a while now and I pretty much agree. Kaspersky has always been a low profile, yet great antivirus suite. Nod32 is more technical but can be just as effective as any of these antivirus programs.

eeeh idk. ive had norton as a trial when i got my computer but it's not like i noticed it was amazing. neither did it crash my computer. it was just there. it didn't do an amazing job either since my computer did eventually get slower like all of them do and im sure there were a few things that slipped by. I just expected a lot more from norton, and it was just okay. id give it like a 6.

9 for me. Norton Internet security is good Norton anti-virus is bad. Eventually some viruses will get through, no one can get rid of a virus that was just made
