I ran out of tape, darn it! I have 232 bags left over from last year, as I bought them after the holiday. I wish I'd bought more! Last year really slammed me, I was reduced to running into the house to get pre-packaged 100 calorie treats and granola bars, anything that was sealed and yummy! Halloween comes only once a year and it's such a fun time for kids of all ages! I am so delighted to be in an urban environment where I get hundreds of kids! Tonight I started to make the bags--I give 2 pieces of chocolate and one sucker or other non-chocolate treat. I actually had someone tell me last year how much they appreciated how I knew what they liked. It was a teen--I give candy to EVERYONE!! I even have a bowl of dog biscuits! I love Halloween! Are you ready for it? I have to get some more bags and tape. It's going to be so much fun! Especially dressing up to sit on the porch and give out the candy. Do you enjoy Halloween?

I absolutely love Halloween. I have a huge family and we always get together for the holidays. My mom has 5 other siblings, so the holidays are broken up and each person that still lives around us gets a holiday. My aunt has Halloween and she goes all out. They turn their garage into a haunted house, everyone dresses up, and some of the adult take the children around to the neighboring houses while the rest stay to entertain the oncoming crowd. This year is going to be the best Halloween yet. Being that I live in Georgia, most of my family are Ga Bulldog fans. My dad however, is a Florida gators fan. This year the Florida Gators and Georgia Bulldogs play their famous Ga/Fl rival game at 3pm on Halloween day. The party will start at noon and not end until about 3 am the next morning. It's going to be awesome!! This year my costume will be inspired by the game. As everyone else has a team they are rooting for, I on the other hand am not a fan of either. I am an FSU fan. I plan on dressing up as an FSU Cheerleader and claiming to be Switzerland (completely neutral). Good luck on your candy stash and Happy Halloween to everyone!

That sounds like a wonderful Halloween! Your family must be a lot of fun, I like the way you all gather and enjoy each other. Your idea of being Switzerland is so cute!

Oh Im so excited for you that sounds fun dragon. The neighborhood right behind me gets the trick or treater's around here but thats ok its close for me to take my babies too and its mostly a neighborhood of policemen and teachers. But Im glad you brought up this topic because today was our Halloween parade--it was a HIT--I dressed up as a personal trainer except it was especially obese and big---except blown up with air, lol. My daughters got so much candy and I didn't anticipate what in the world I would do with it. Last year and the years before it was easy to just hide away the next day but now my baby's KNOW theres candy around. I have been telling them were going to have it in increments but just the thought of my babies having a whole bag of candy frightens me, what can I do Dragon??

I read a great suggestion last year. One mom said that what she does is buy the candy back! The kids cooperate, it's not mandatory, but when presented with the choice of candy or money to buy a new toy or something, the kids will usually choose the money! This lady paid a nickel apiece for it and her kids kept very little of the candy. She sent the candy with her husband to work where everyone could share it.

When my kids were growing up we lived way out in the desert and had no kids coming to the door. I used to take them into town to trick or trick. It's so nice now that I moved back to my home state and there are lots and lots of children around! I hope I don't run out of candy this year again. I was always disappointed when I was a kid to have a sack full of suckers and bubble gum with just a few candy bars. I guess that's why I'm generous with the good stuff! I hope you and your family have a safe and fun Halloween!

Wow! You must have a lot of fun doing this! What are you dressing up as?! I never get anyone, I live out in the middle of nowhere! I've always taken my kids trick or treating and now that they're older, they have other things to do. My youngest wants to go this year, but he is going to have to find someone else to go with, I have a friend that's getting married Oct. 31st, I think it'll be great fun! They want guests to dress up in costume! I always thought it would be fun to hand out candy like you do and do something fun when the kids get to the door.....one house I remember my kids laughing because they would knock and the "door" knocked back.....another place there was a scarecrow on the porch with a bowl on it's lap and when the kids went to reach into the bowl, the scarecrows hand moved and then stood up! (I always thought this could be fun until I seen it on a video where a guy got scared and punched the scarecrow!) So much fun! so little time! I've always shopped after a holiday for the next year.....I get great decorations really cheap for Halloween, Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, etc..... It's great that you have fun doing this!!

I shop after the holiday, too! We can get such great bargains then, things we couldn't normally afford. I usually have some long black gloves with spiders on them and a jester's cap with bells. I don't want to look scary because there are a lot of little kids that are out and many people also bring their dogs and I don't want them scared, either. I keep my own dogs inside, block off their dog door so they won't be barking at everyone! It's such a fun time, it's too bad it's only 2 hours once a year!
