One of the discussions on myLot yesterday got me thinking about old friends. There are lots of people that I used to be friends with but over the years I have lost touch with. I was curious to know what they are up to. So last night I spend over three hours surfing the net for them. I started by Googleing their names, and if that didn't find anything, I tried the names of the boyfriend they had back when I knew them. Hey, it turns out two of them are still with the same guy they were with ten years ago. Two have kids. I think one is a teacher, because I found her on a 'rate my teacher' type site. Another one seems to have worked in many parts of South America as a social worker. So, I'm wondering, does it seem creepy to spend a few hours searching for old friends, even though I have no intention of ever contacting them?

I don't think it is creepy at all. It can be fun to see what old friends/acquaintances are up to years after you last saw them. If they are online, they must obviously be aware that they can be "tracked down" by anyone else at all. I am just curious though, about one thing? Now that you have found them, why wouldn't you just send them a short note to say hello? You did say they used to be friends of yours, so it is not like you are some weird stalker or something. Just wondering, that's all...

I guess I don't want them to know that I haven't really done that much with my life. I never traveled the world, I never had children, I never finished college. I'm not disappointed with what I've done with myself. I keep telling myself that one day I will do all these things, but it just hasn't happened yet.

I really dont think that there is anything wrong with this as your just curious as to what they are up to no harm done and lets face it if they didnt want anyone to know they wouldnt put theirself on the internet in any way whatsoever as we all no how many millions of people around the world have access.

i don't see any raeson why you have to worry like that. it's normal to search for people that you rarely see or hear. infact, it's a great gesture, being resourceful and diligent in finding people onlien. oyu can always check them out in osme famous social networking sites like facebook or friendster.twitter is also known as of this year, FYI.
