Now that the N1H1 vaccine is available in the US, do you think it's safe? Would you let your family be vaccinated? I have this question in my mind ever since it popped out on National Television that the vaccine is available for free, and after seeing the interview on TV of one of the Cheerleader from one NBA team, 10 days after she had Flu Shot she felt something's wrong with her. Now she has difficulty talking, eating and standing. And one of the Dr. said that she is a victim of a very rare case of the vaccine side effect and right now, they do not any thing about it. And my question is, what if we'll become victim also of that "very rare case of side effects"? what will happen next? knowing that this Swine Flu vaccine is only new and we never know yet any of the side effects of this new vaccine...do you think taking the risk of having this vaccine would be worth it?

The H1N1 vaccine was created and is being synthesized by the same means as the seasonal flu vaccine. There is no rational cause for panic about the few medical complications that have come up in the news. The seasonal flu vaccine has itself many serious but rare side effects which are simply due to the way they make the vast amount of doses needed each year for the United States. For instance, the most common way of synthesizing the vaccine strain in large amounts requires the use of chicken eggs. This is why your doctor will always ask you if you are allergic to eggs before giving you your vaccination. I personally have already gotten the H1N1 vaccine and have experienced no noticeable side effects. Who is this cheerleader you mentioned?

Thank you for your opinion. I was wrong the cheerleader was not from the NBA team she's a Washington Redskins cheerleader,Desiree Jennings from Ashburn, Virginia. She developed a Neurological Disorder called Dystonia after she suffered a "rare side effect" of the seasonal Flu Shot.

For myself, I don't think it's worth it, but I think everyone has to make up their own minds. If someone, like the cheerleader, has serious side effects, they won't do anything about it. They passed a law so the manufacturers can't be held responsible for whatever might happen. I'll leave it there.
