hi friends, i wanna discuss about beggers, in india so many beggers are developing, i have seen in busstops, and signal more...you know i won't encourage them, why can't they do some job. they can't even bend their body.why so, yesterday i have seen one lady she is too younger just she look like 20+ and carrying a small baby in her hand and begging the people in the signal. i feel very sad and as well as very angry also. so, i told her why can't you do some job, as a servant, and here lot of factories will we there why can't you go there. she just cryied and went off. so, friend could you encourge beggers.

Hi neeli maravi.... hope you are doing great by mylotting... i accept your point as such... i wont give money to those beggars who are physically fit to do some work and earn money... but when it comes to some kind of handicapt then there should be some consideration right???? so i will give money to blind, and other physically challenged people alone....

I live in Australia and we don’t see beggars on the streets although we do have homeless people who gather outside certain hostels in the city hoping for a bed for the night; a lot are accommodated but not all unfortunately. I have been to India and I have seen a lot of children begging and it was heartbreaking for me. The person who was escorting us was from India and advised us not to give anything to them and not to encourage them. We did as he suggested but I felt I wanted to help them; there were so many of them though and it would have only been possible for me to give to one or two which I did before I left because I figured at least I lent a hand to one and that is better than doing nothing.

Hi neeli, here in our place the authority concerned does not encourage public to give money to any beggar. There are old folks homes, orphanages, social welfare centers and etc managed by local and national authorities to take in these people and take care of them. Beggars will be detained if they are found hanging around and asking money in the street or any other public areas. Their families concerned will be fined if they never take care of them as wll. If they are people really have no home they will then be sent to the right said place. Giving money to beggars will encourage people to make money easily without working. Having beggars in the public would make the environment to look indecent and this also would affect the tourist industry. We still could find some old folks or disable people sitting in front of some temples during festive season asking for donation. To support government’s measure we usually try not to give money to beggars. Take care and happy posting

Do not believe that the babies are their babies. They rent babies. I was cheated by a begger once stating that his wife was in hospital and I gave money. Then my office people said it is a daily affair and I met that begger after two months again with the same story. So disabled and old beggers I will encourage but not others.

I don't. There are a lot of beggars in my city as well, and although I feel for those that are really old, I get annoyed when I see able bodied people resorting to begging. Like you, I feel that they are capable to make themselves useful and find jobs to support themselves. I also hate seeing small kids begging because most likely, it's their parents, or some syndicate sending them out to beg. Sometimes I also see them gamble with the money they get, so I feel less inclined to give alms. Another thing I see often these days are blind people begging. They are often accompanied by a guide who begs with them. My dad gets annoyed when he sees these because rather than help the blind to beg, why doesn't the able-bodied guide just get a job to help his blind companion? I've also observed one "team" crossing the street, and I saw the blind open his eyes to see where they were going. Yeah, HE WASN'T EVEN BLIND!!

Of course you shouldnt encourage people to beg, every man and women "should" work for what they want/need. True, every man and women isnt the same and some have handicaps inabling them from working and Im not knocking them for asking for help. But I also know... and its simple math why some people beg atleast in america. Example: 1)You stand next to a crowded freeway were between 1,000-5,000 people drive by every hour. 2)If only 10% (which lets say 500 people) give you 1 dime (10cents) an hour, you'd make 50$ an hour... for doing nothing... So, I can see why some bad apples would do this.

yeah your example was nice yaar, just they won't bend their body to work, if they bend definitly the beggers will not improved. thankyou for your response, have a nice day.

I never encourage begging and in our city it is totally banned by our government.Government is providing proper shelter and food for such people, still many people are begging.I help such people,by observing or studying the condition of the beggars. If she or he is physically unfit, then there is nothing wrong in helping them.Encourage begging is not a right thing. It is better to help them by giving food and dresses. Most of the beggars misuse the money for drinking smoking and other anti social activities.

I don't encourage beggars, but I used to encourage them. I thought that helping beggars is a criteria to enter heaven. God will keep the record of the number of times we helped others. Later, I found that I am making a person lazy by giving him money free of cost even though it is a small amount. Then, I found out that there are rackets where people employ beggars and make money. Now, I give money to a beggar only if I find that he really needs money.

Begging nowadays has become the easiest way to earn money without any capital or toil. More and more lazy people are into this business. Due to this i do not encourage any beggar by giving them alms. I remember a friend of mine who had offered a job as housemaid to a young beggar woman. But the woman was so arrogant that she went off saying she had asked for alms and not employment. Just think about such beggars and you will never encourage them. Happy mylotting.

Hi neelima I wont encourage any beggers. if they are really hungry, let them go and work somewhere and earn for themself. If they are physically handicapped still they can work by sitting in one place, say, sitting near the temples and look after the slippers we leave and earn or can work in a PCO and earn but not by begging

Hi! Once we give any amount to beggars it encourages them to do it daily. They won't think of any thing that could alleviate they situation to a better one. They will always have in their mind the easy way to have some money, begging. Helping is not bad as long as what we are doing to help would give people the sense of responsibility. Being responsible for their lives beggars wont just depend on others help. That dependence could be erased if people will keep in mind that once we give them money they will not work and just beg.

Hi neelima, You are true, Now a days these beggers are becoming more, though they are physically fit they dont work. If i see the beggers who are physically disabled i give money to them bu not to the one who is physically fit. These ladies also now they have started to make money using their small kids, Sometimes when i see them i feel so pity towards them but when i think about them i feel why dont these people work in some factories or work for some daily wages.

I don't encourage beggars. If you will give them some money, they will become use to it and depend on it. I'd rather give them food than money especially the children because they still don't have the capacity to work.

yes, you are right dear, but they won't use that in a proper way, thankyou for your response, have a nice day.

Dear friend, I would never encourage begging, that too if possible to those not physically fit too as there are charity institutions and welfare organizations who could take care of them. May be just inform them, here they come and take these kinds of people. In our place begging is banned in most of public places.
• India
26 Oct 09
hi shamrack, yes you are right, these kind of organizations should encourge them and save their life in a proper way. they will banned for some days that's all nothing more than that. they will improve like this only. thankyou for your response, have a nice day.

Hi neelima, Today morning I got angry on one of the girl she came for begging in bus. She hardly 16 years old and her left hand covered with some medicine and made it as a burned one. A lady sat near to me in bus, asked me that what happened to her hand, I told her that she just applied some medicine to make us fool and getting money. I have been watching her everyday. Usually she came with a little girl and her hand is making it as burned one and today she was alone and she did it herself. I didn’t give money to her. I used to give money to beggars but for the right persons only (means if somebody physically handicapped then I may offer some help). I don’t like to help the cheating persons. If she asks money without doing this thing I may think to give something.
