this is a question that many have been tring to answer for some time. The teacher I had for my nutrition course at UNH told us that Vit C can help to boost your imune system and help in lessening cold symptoms, but it does not cure a cold. One could infer however, that if your imune system were pumped up and ready before you contracted the cold if you got the virus it would be less likely to take hold and make you very sick. In my experience, if I feel a cold comming on, or if I hang out with someone who has a cold, I take some extra C along with my daily multi and I either dont get the cold, or just a minor version of it. But it is important to continue taking C till all sympoms are gone, else the virus gets the upper hand and you will get sick. I hear that the rose hips help with absobtion and they have some other benifical boosters to your immune system, but I just buy the basic C pills, or drink OJ. Vit C is water soluable in the body so you cant get too much, any unused portion will just "flush" out. -- hope this helps you
