Have you ever had a deja-vu?

Have you ever had a deja-vu? One of those situations when you just know that you experienced the exact same thing before? You've been there, you've done that? You know what's going to happen? I know that the general view is that a deja-vu isn't really that - a "already seen" situation, but is directed by our sub-conscience. We have been in a similar situation and our mind can't separate the two situations. I'm not so sure though. I had many deja-vus, knew I've been there and knew what someone was about to say. Even with people I met for the first time. Have you ever experienced this? Do you believe in it? Where do you think do deja-vus come from?

Yes, I have had deja-vus, and I'm sure everyone else has had it at least once. When I was watching a movie I just felt that there was one scene that I saw somewhere else before. Where the character was walking through a dark room, with a little shade of blue-darkness . . . Hard to describe, but my point is I remember something like this somewhere. I do agree with your explanation, how we remember something similar and we think it is the same thing from another time. A deja vu could also be a time loop which would be the result of tachyon distortions coming from a space-time anomaly. But that's just another theory . . .

Some people believe the United States discovered a form of time travel when working on the Manhattan Project, it is believed that some military personal went missing an their families have been paid off, an they are currently warping in an out of dimensions in suspended animation, eye witnesses have claimed to see body parts appear in solid objects then disappear.

Intriguing . . . So, somehow while developing the atomic bomb the personnel were trapped in this . . . ? That is a very interesting idea. I wonder, if it is true, then who knows about this? And is anyone working to get them out?

No they are covering it up, that is if you believe it happened, the story goes that a whole battleship testing an experiment vanished.

Hmm... Deja vu.., I get them almost everyday, sometimes without noticing. I remember one day during class, the teacher was explaining a scientific concept, and I realised that I have heard him explain the same concept before and I nearly stopped him from explaining it because it has been explained, then I realised that it was a deja vu, so I just listened for the second time :-) Anyway, I find them mysterious, yet I believe in them....And for their origin, I do not know, but I think it has to do with its etymology since it is a French term...

Almost everyday? That would kind of scare me I think. Maybe you've read some of those things before? Or do you actually remember him explaining it?
29 Oct 09
I do not know why I get them so often... They are so mysterious to me...hmm...

Several times or all the time at some times. It usually happens to me when I listen to old songs I knew years ago or go to places I used to frequent years before now. Its a natural thing and it happens when the lodes ( I think that's what it is ) in the brain do not synchronise. I believe I was told that when I was in school years ago.

It probably has something to do with how our brain works, but I don't think they completely figures our brains out yet.

when i played basketball in hs i seemed to get deja vu during every game, it was weird, maybe the feeling was just from excitement who knows?
28 Oct 09
Maybe. Or it really was a situation you've been in before. I guess the chance that you meet the same player making a specific move is quite high.

I did experience deja-vu many times already. It's really weird and I don't know exactly why this happens. Experts say it's just a type of seizure. They said when you experience deja-vu you're actually having a seizure. I think this is again one of the dilemma which science is facing. I think it's paranormal but maybe scientist are also correct. I don't know what to believe but one thing's for sure, this is common to all people. shadow41

Blimey, then I had many seizures in my life. I hope that's not true, but just trying to exlain the unexplainable.

I believe everyone has a deja-vu, since sometimes our brain can not tell the difference bewteen the similar situations. For example, many years ago we met some people and did not see each other after that. When we found someone like the person we know many years ago, we just begin to recall the experience we had with this person before. When we see something going on, we can remind ourselves of something related to this. I think this is just Deja-vu.
28 Oct 09
Maybe. Many deja-vus can probably be explained that way, but I don't think all can.

deja vu is hard to explain but for some people, it was so real.. I used to experience this phenomenal situation when I was 5-8 years old. But now as I grow, only once in 10 years.
28 Oct 09
It's interesting that you say you have less deja-vus now. Maybe it is because you have more phantasy and time to be aware as a child? I think I still have as many deja vus as I had when I was younger. But then, I still have a lot of phantasy and am am dreamer. That might be the reason.

I have head to many times to count.. I actually realized a few times when it was happening that I had "seen" the "scene" before in a dream. But I knew what was going to happen, or what was going to happen sometimes I remember a Color triggering it. it's strange. but I think I had a lot of precognitive dreams. I used to be a lot more "sensitive" and in tune.. when I was younger.. I have kind of lost my touch with age.. I think I need to start meditating! Way back in the day when my girlfriends and i used to hang out. we were very in tune with one another and (let's call it "the universe") and we used to "think we saw" someone and mention it to the others- and the someone was usually someone we hadn't seen in Months or years. And usually- like 95% of the time.. That person would show up that day where ever we were. Once we mentioned someone who had moved to the other side of the country. saying how we missed him.. And then while walking in the mall a couple hours later- sho should come walking down the hall straight at us.. yep.. said person.. It was freaky, more freaky because it happened SO OFTEN. So that would be a YES, I believe in Deja'-Vu!

Dream seems to be a common thing. Maybe our life is predefined after all like a script in a movie and dreams are a way for us to be prepared for what's going to happen?

Yes. Especially when I was younger. I use to keep a record of the events that happened, but I lost that a long time ago. They were always very detailed. I could say what the person was going to say before they said it. I don't know what it is really, but it happens.
28 Oct 09
Wow, it's a shame you lost your records. That surely would be interesting to look back over it.

Good to know there is a word for this sort of experience. It happened a few times with me. I remember once in school I felt that my friend had asked a same question in the same classroom when I was with the same group of friends. However the situation had not occurred before.
28 Oct 09
Yeah, not sure where the word comes from. It's french and means "already seen", but I am not sure about the origin.

Yes I had deja vus too. It's really wierd sometimes because it feels like it happened already I just can't remember the whole thing but I know I have been in the same situation before.
28 Oct 09
Yes, my deja vus are usually only moments, not the full experience. That's what always makes me wonder if it is for real or not.

sre! a lot of times! and in all of them i say "wow, i've already seen this" or " i lived this experience before". i don't know where deja-vus come from but i don't understand them, maybe we lived a similar experience before, or see something very similar, and we have the sense that we have already lived it, or maybe there are a temporal distorsions i don't know, and i don't know if there are some scientifical teory upon them.
28 Oct 09
I might look into it and see if there is a scientific theory, but I doubt it. I know what you mean, it's just this "sensing" which makes the feeling of a deja-vu so weird.

Hi friend!i too have experienced deja vu many times and dont understand the reason behind it.sometimes it happens that we are in certain situation and our mind gave us signal that this situation in the same manner has happened earlier too.when it happens with me,I gave a thought that how is that possible when we are new to situation ,location and companion. Its really hard to understand.
28 Oct 09
There are still many things in this world we don't understand. I wonder if they look back on us in a 100 years and smile about our naivety!

Hey Tara, Ha I think everyone at some stage in there life has had deja-vu. I think the reason we all do is because in life everything we do is so repetitive. People claim to have deja-vu and say it is conected to one of there "past lives" but most logical peole now that, that's a load of bull. Thats just my opinion of deja-vu I'm sure others may think differently. Good post :)

Hi taraelocin, I'm not sure that all incidences of deja-vu can be explained that easy. When you visit a city for the first time and start recognizing buildings and remembering street names, it can be downright scary. Some people think that we live parallel lives, others attribute it to remembering a past life. I seem to have been born with a belief in reincarnation, although I probably never heard the term until I was in my teens. Blessings.
28 Oct 09
I'm not sure neihter. I find this all quite intriguing. And yes, recongnising an unknown town certainly would be scary. I never experienced that.

I have a deja-vu alot.. sometimes I get that from my dreams and then it will happen exactly as it is in my dreams.. sometimes a bit scary.. and sometimes its not.. and there's a time when this guy that i came across is a bit look familiar from me but i haven't met him once in my life..
28 Oct 09
The second one is probably because he resembles someone. But the first one is difficult to explain. I know exactly what you mean though.

I have definitely experienced deja-vu many times. It's so hard to describe the feeling but I definitely know it when I have it. I guess it must just be caused by some glitch in the brain, the way it stores memory or something. I don't really know. I also sometimes get a feeling much like deja-vu except that I feel like I have dreamed it before rather than actually experienced it before. That's weird too.
28 Oct 09
You're right - I often have those deja-vu feelings and sometimes I wonder if maybe I've been there in a dream. But I can never remember, just know that I've been somewhere or have done or seen something before.

When you get into a pattern you will have deva-vu a lot. If you work at a job where you do the same thing everyday no new challenges then every day will feel the same.
28 Oct 09
Not sure that's a deja vu though or just a very similar daily pattern. I meant more those moments when you think - "Hold on, weird. This happened before. But it's not a normal situation, so how can it?"
