What are your best home remedies? For headaches, I pinch the middle area between my thumb and my pointer finger on my right hand. I use garlic when I have an infection in your mouth. If you open a clove of garlic and press it to the area of the infection it draws the infection out. I also use baking soda and peroxide to whiten my teeth. What about you? Do you have any home remedies or things you use regularly or in a pinch?

I love trying home remedies first before going to some kind of medicine. I always try the headache remedy that you mentioned. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I used to use baking soda to whiten my teeth but then I heard it eventually makes you lose the enamel on your teeth.

I only use the baking soda every so often, moderation is my friend. I think the headache thing only works with certain types of headaches. Do you have a favorite home remedy that you use?

That is a great idea. I have such dry skin I will try that one for sure. I like it! Vaseline is great on the lips too in the winter. Thanks for sharing!

Hmm.. I find having a Aloe Vera plant to be very useful for stings, burns, and wounds. I also use it for my scalp and hair to regulate hair products and thickening. We also have a coconut tree for it's coconut milk for food and for shiny hair as well. We also burn our nymph tree leaves to repel mosquitoes.

I am recently finding out all the wonderful healing properties of Aloe Vera. I have heard it many times but now have a plant of my own to use. I have heard really good things about coconut for excema and need to give it a try soon as well. What is a nymph tree? I have never heard of it. Do you know why it repels mosquitoes?

It's a family of the mint tree, I guess, they just call them that. I don't know why it repels mosquitoes but I guess the mosquitoes just don't like the smell.

I will have to see if it grows in my area. We have so many mosquitoes here in the summer and I am always looking for natural ways to deter them from hanging out in my backyard. It seems like the mosquitoes here are immune to citronella.

I use apple cider vinegar for athlete's foot or toe nail fungus. Yes they come and go but ACV works great everytime. I also take a spoonful of it for minor colds..it kills the mucus. For migraines I drink 2 cups of Chinese green tea and it's gone in 20 minutes. For cough and sore throats I squeeze lemon in hot to warm glass of water and drink it...very effective...and more effective if it has sliced ginger in it.

ACV is not something I have ever used but it makes sense. I do love lemon and ginger for colds too. Ginger has many great uses when it comes to home remedies. It is great for the body and I don't think it is used often enough in a pure form.

A hot bath with epson salts and lavender petals. A bubble bath is preferred. The heat and aroma therapy will help relieve headaches and body aches. As an added bonus you come out smelling like lavender. It is a simple great remedy for many aches and pains. If you have a stuffed up head add some eucalyptus essential oil - they also sell eucalyptus epson salts.
