I should probably say I got another crock-pot. The old one met it's maker(I guess Rival in this case) in a big way. I left the ex-boyfriend in charge of dinner for less than an hour while I ran out to do something. He never would tell me what happened exactly, but we ended up having pizza(paid for by him) for dinner that night. He did thankfully clean up the offending crock-pot in it's 1000 pieces plus the scalding hot roast that was cooking before I got home. Now that the crock pot and the boyfriend have both been replaced(note that the new boyfriend can cook and can be left in charge of the crock pot and still have dinner when I get home), I need recipes. What do you like to make in your crock pot? Are there certain websites or cookbooks you use as well? I'm particularly interested in desserts in the crock pot. I have a little tiny crock pot that would be good for 2-3 servings.

Crock pot food is like - put everything inside and let it cook for a good time. Its great for soups and with that you just put in all the ingredients and let it stew. Pot roasts are great there too. Just put in the roast with carrots and potatoes and you have a real meal in about four hours.

I love cooking pot roasts in my crockpot. Until I find some more recipes, that's pretty much the only thing I cook in there other than cheese dip for parties. I love how it makes the whole how smell good without heating up the kitchen. Thanks for your response.

Hi Adelida. I usually make roasts in mine. My husband has made spaghetti in it as well. For recipes, you can try this site: http://www.crock-pot.com/Recipes.aspx?crs=WaVC1qXFmqg=&csn=29&siz=75 There is also a recipe search on the left side of their site. I hope this helps! Happy mylotting!

I don't think I could survive without my crock pot lol. I have them in different sizes, from the large family size down to the smaller size. I love the way the whole house smells while something's cooking in one! Here's a site I've found a lot of great recipes at: http://www.allcrockpotrecipes.com/ If you like apple pie, be sure and check out their crockpot apple pie, it's easy and good!

Thank you for the link, that's exactly what I was looking for! I love using crock pots as well and love having the whole house smell great. I also have a couple of different sizes of crockpots, so it will be cool to figure out how to use all of them in different ways. I love apple pie(who doesn't?) so I'll definitely have to check that out. I'm craving some with ice cream right now! (No one has to know that I'll be eating that for breakfast :) )

I would really miss my crockpot if any thing happened to it. I like to cook my steel cut oats in it for the week then freeze them and heat them up every day. i also make my chili in it and cook bean soup and so many other meals with it. We don't eat many desserts so don't have any recipes but I have used it to make apple sauce. I have cooked my whole meal of roast baked potatoes and or squash in my crockpot. It keeps the house cool in the summer.

I also use the crock pot a lot in the summer so I don't heat up the house with the stove or oven. I never thought about cooking the steel cut oats in the crock pot, that's a great idea! Applesauce sounds awesome too, I'll definitely keep that in mind. Thanks for responding.

I have a crock pot and I have purchased a fantastic recipe book from the amazon website which is by the BBC and it is called One Pot Meals or something similar. I am waiting for it to arrive and I am so excited about being able to save time, money and effort on washing up! I hope you enjoy your crock pot and get lots of fantastic recipes. Definitely check amazon and the likes as you should find lots of reasonably priced books there.

That's a great idea! You also gave me the idea of checking out the book section at thrift stores and the salvation army. I bet there are some 1-pot meal cookbooks there too. I'll check out Amazon's selection, I've been saving up gift cards from various sites so maybe I can even get one for "free". Thanks for responding.

I have never made desserts in the crockpot and honestly have never though too. I will be looking into this though because I think it sounds like a great idea. I do however, love to make lasagna in the crockpot. Get the lasagna noodles that are no boil and layer in the crockpot just as you would in a pan! It is so good and you can really get creative with veggies and what not. I love mushrooms and broccoli in lasagna...
