I've never gone shopping on Black Friday, but thought it would be nice to hear from those who have. What was your biggest buy and best deal you've ever gotten by treking out on Black Friday?

It's interesting to know that Canada does not have Black Friday. I never heard of boxing day either. Do you get good bargains going shopping on boxing day? Is it around the same time we have Black Friday?

boxing day is a traditional holiday that takes place the day after christmas. it is celebrated by countries that have ties to Great Britan and no, the sales arent quite as good as black friday :-(

I have never heard about Black Friday until I moved to Georgia (I originally resided in California), and when I did go to check out some sales, there was nothing huge or monumental in savings. Some stores gave away free totes if you came in first, Victoria's Secret gave away little sample lotion bottles, and that was just about it. Other little savings included 10% off Vera Bradley purses, and the biggest discount in digits that I saw were 50% off some older clothes in a few stores like Pacsun. Nordstrom, Macy's, and other department stores weren't throwing much of a huge sale at all. Yet I did go to another mall and the shopping experience was a little bit better there; $20 black dress pants from Banana Republic. That was probably the best deal I got that day. Still, it's a fun way to just go out with some family or friends and shop to see what you find. OH, and Lifetime Fitness or other sorts of gyms, offer free membership fees if you apply on Black Friday.

I've normally heard of friends complain that they didn't see any huge sales either on Black Friday. Maybe its just the hype that gets people to go shopping and the sales are just mimimal. I did not know about the gym memberships though, I was thinking about signing up at one, I might just do that on Black Friday I'll see.
