There is a new version.

Hello my lot, i use the a.v.g anti-virus 8 free version and up date it about every two to three days but recently i got a message saying that there is a new version out (version 9) and i should go and upgrade to the new one, i know that a.v.g 8 is free do you think that the new version is free also or is there a price ?

Hello stiid, I am using AVG free too and getting the message "AVG free edition 9.0 is now available. To stay protected you will have to upgrade your version". I checked their site and it says to download the free 9.0 version. There are options to download both online or offline setup files. I am sure it is the upgrade only to a new version and we will not have to pay for this one for sure. However you can check their official site to be sure.

Hi ample03, thanks for your response, i will go and have a mooch at there site as i have been shrugging it of for two days now and i hope that its right the 9th version being free as it should be, so do you use the free version a.v.g.9 now then ? Thanks again.

I have the bought version of AVG that I got when I had to take my computer in for repair due to a virus infection. I got a notice about a free upgrade to 9.0 which I assume includes all the extras that the bought version has. During the installation it ran a scan to identify trusted files, etc. to greatly reduce the scan time which is great.

Hi stealthy, thanks for your response, i am sorry to hear that you took your computer into a shop because i know that it can get expensive, i am going to have a look at there web site like the first comment said, i hope that your computer is running good now anyhow, thanks again.
