I work at Macy's and am getting ready to spend the better part of tonight unpacking Christmas stuff. Woohoo for a rocking Wednesday night. I actually enjoy it though, my boss and I are friends and she's bringing her daughter who is 15 so we put on crazy music and dance around the stock room like fools.
Preparing for Christmas is a major undertaking, but here are a few quotes that I have taped above my desk(as of yesterday) to help me get through the season.
The Grinch: The nerve of those Whos. Inviting me down there - on such short notice! Even if I wanted to go my schedule wouldn't allow it. 4:00, wallow in self pity; 4:30, stare into the abyss; 5:00, solve world hunger, tell no one; 5:30, jazzercize; 6:30, dinner with me - I can't cancel that again; 7:00, wrestle with my self-loathing... I'm booked. Of course, if I bump the loathing to 9, I could still be done in time to lay in bed, stare at the ceiling and slip slowly into madness. But what would I wear?
Lou Lou Who: I'm glad he took our presents. You can't hurt Christmas, Mr. Mayor, because it isn't about the... the gifts or the contest or the fancy lights. That's what Cindy's been trying to tell everyone... and me. I don't need anything more for Christmas than this right here: my family.
The Grinch: I am the Grinch that stole Christmas... and I'm sorry.
[long silence]
The Grinch: Aren't you going to cuff me? Beat me up? Blind me with pepper spray?
Mayor Augustus Maywho: You heard him, Officer. He admitted it. I'd go with the pepper spray.
Officer Wholihan: Yes, I heard him all right. He said he was sorry.
Bob Wallace: Oh, Phil, when are you going to learn that girls like that are a dime a dozen?
Phil Davis: Please, don't quote me the price when I haven't got the time.
-White Christmas
Judy Haynes: We're booked for the holidays.
Phil Davis: Vermont, huh?
Judy Haynes: Oh, Vermont should be beautiful this time of year, with all that snow.
Phil Davis: Yeah, you know something... Vermont should be beautiful this time of year, with all that snow.
Judy Haynes: That's what I just said.
Phil Davis: We seem to be getting a little mixed up.
Judy Haynes: Maybe it's the music.
Phil Davis: Maybe it isn't only the music.
-White Christmas
Ok now to prepare to unpack all the Christmas goodies. What are a few of your favorite Christmas movies?

Hey! Here's an interesting tid bit: I work at Macy's too! I just started about a month ago, and I'm an early-morning merchandiser (seasonally, only, though). From the sounds of it (dancing around the stock room?) you might be as well. Boy, those stock rooms are a mess these days. We just had a one day sale..And it was CHAOTIC! We all had to be there by 4:00 AM to set sale (and usually we go in at 5:30) - so it was an early day.
. Yup, Christmas time at Macy's seems to be EXTREMELY chaotic..And it's not even NOVEMBER yet!
My favorite Christmas movie of all time has to be Santa Claus, the one with Tim Allen (I think that's his name..) It is quite possibly the funniest movie I have ever seen.
