Independence day

I'm in Canada, and Canada Day is July 1st.

There are several in Portugal it is hard to choose. 1st of December the Restauration of Independence from Spain. Then there is the 5th of October which is Implantation of the Republic, The last one was the 25th of April 1974 Revolution which pulled the country out of the quagmire of a dictatorship. Take your pick.
