When was the last time you applied for a job?

How many applications did you send in? Did you get hired? I just sent in a job application. The first one in years! The last time I applied (and got hired) was right before my oldest was conceived and he's 12 years old now, so it's been a while since I had a (paying) job. With the economy the way it is and with so many people looking for a job, and with me being a bit older and having practically no work experience under my belt, I don't expect to get hired, but it'll be interesting to see if I at least get called in for an interview. We shall see what happens. Wish me luck! Now back to my original question. When was the last time you applied for a job?

It's going along fine, but there are times when I would ask myself 'why!' because sometimes the days are just too tiring.

Its been awhile since I've applied for a job, I haven't been in the workforce for some years now because of medical reasons I'm not able to work anymore. I hope you at least get called in for a interview, it would be even better if you get the job..Good Luck.

Thanks walijo. I have to agree, it would be even better if I get the job, or any of the other jobs I've applied to since then.

hi sacmom I wish you all the luck in the wor ld, and hope you get the job you applied for. Its been 25 years since I last applied for the job as page in the library and yes I did get the job. I retired from it at age 79 and am now 83. I spent 23 years there. that was long enough for me. Now I am indeed retired.

Thanks Hatley. That's quite awhile to work at one company. My husband's only been with his current job for the past 9 years (or it will be come this February). However, he's been in the same field for almost 30 years now.

Right after I left school I must have sent in no less than 500 applications and I dont think I recieved more than ten responses and I think there were just the typical "i am sorry but we have no vacancies at this time but we will put your application on file until a post comes up".I must admit that then I was quite exhuberant in sending out resume's but now after so many rejections I have cooled off now so in the past four years I havent applied for any posts

I was pretty excited too, back in the day. LOL I didn't send out nearly as many applications as you did, but it discouraged me just the same when I wouldn't hear anything from the places I would submit my application to. Now I'm just hoping for the best. I can always submit applications elsewhere if I have to. And right now I don't have to. LOL Happy mylotting!

last I applied and accepted an offer was 4 years ago. I'm at my first job and still happy with it. I would apply once in a while to check if I'm still marketable. I think it's healthy to test your value in the market most employers actually look for personality than experience. Skills can be something learned but attitude and ethics is something you bring in to a company :) Good luck !

It has been nine(9) years since I had applied for a job and done a interview for work at a company not including selling Avon at one point a few years ago. I don't have much job experience at anything..I do wish you lots of luck and hope that you will be able to get a job.

Thank you mtdew. Neither do I. I had a couple of part time jobs in the past, but neither lasted long. The first one was because I moved. The owner wanted their employees nearby and as I was further than the others I lost out. Funny thing about it though is that they never actually let me go and I never quit. LOL Happy mylotting!

Good luck with the application! As for Me,for now I'm still in the last job I applied for..15 Years, and counting..I do a lot of shift work and apart from Holidays can hardly plan what I'm doing with any free time a week in advance..I could be doing with a Job offering some regular hours, but so far, those applications haven't worked out for Me.. "I owe,I owe,so off to work I go.."

I have not applied for any job since quitting from active employment 18 years ago. I quit to start my own business. There are times I feel like going back to the employment world but seeing my age which is nearing to pensionable age, I did not pursue. Yes, the worsening economic situation has affected my business badly but I have no choice but to lay low when times are bad. Good luck to you and hope you'll be considered for the interview.

I last applied for a job a lil over a year ago. I applied at a few places and was hired at the only place that even called. I had not worked n 5yrs since my oldest was one. Sadly I had to take a job that was below me because I needed some flexability so we could avoid daycare. I just wish it paid what I was making before I lost my last job. But whatcha going to do??? life is isn't always fair especialy in the current state of economic affairs.

That's what I'm trying to do too. Find a job that has flexible hours. If I can't work evenings, then I guess I won't be able to work at all.

Hi! I sent an application a few days back, though I received some favorable interview the only problem is the job is in graveyard shift that is why it's hard for me to accept the job.

It isn't easy when time plays a factor. It's one of the things that's against me as well as I'd only be able to work in the evenings, not during the day. Hopefully it won't be too much of a strike against me though! Happy mylotting!

I have sent in many applications niw and I have gotten hired as a part-time worker. In fact, I am still a college student and but I have been ready to find a good job. As far as I know, it is difficult to find a good job for these jobless people even if they have sent many applications. With the downturn of the economics, it is really a difficult task to find a proper job. Wish you success! Happy myLotting!

The best of luck on finding a job, sacmom. Hubby been off work for over a year now and been putting in apps everywhere and anywhere. Even if he doesn't qualify for the job. Only got one interview and the guy has yet to call him back. As for me...I know I'm very limited now on what I can do so I'm not even putting any more apps in. I have 3 paper routes that I can do even when my disks in lower back re-rupture so I'm not about to give those up. My bad knee is also coming back to haunt me now and then from a childhood injury. Last app I put in was for my motor route and still have that job. The other 2 routes I acquired as the other carriers gave them up.

He was finally contacted but didn't get the job. 2 of the routes are 18 papers each while the 3rd one, the motor route, is around 75 papers. Hubby's 2 routes are 20 papers and 68 papers.

That was last September, September 3 to be exact. I applied for a part time position in a call center. Well I was still nervous and imagining the worst because I hate interview, I was bit frightened during interviews. It went well, I get the job. I am not happy now though, because I concluded call center is not my forte. I am still a trainee and I like to back out for the position.

I think the interviews are the most nerve racking of all. That and waiting to hear back from them. Sorry to hear that you aren't happy with your current position. Hopefully you'll find something soon that is more satisfying to you. Good luck!

I applied a couple months ago and didn't get hired. There are very few office jobs here and that's the only kind I can do, I can't be on my feet for more than a few minutes. I didn't get the job, they hired someone younger. I hope you get the job! How does your son feel about you working?

Thanks dragon! I'm sorry that you didn't get the job. It seems to me that places always want someone younger. And yet at the same time they want someone with experience. My oldest son can't tell me as he is autistic. My youngest son isn't thrilled about the idea. If I do get hired it'll be a big adjustment for all of us, that's for sure. I'm kind of up in the air about it all. I wouldn't mind working, but my kids are still young and I feel that they should have their mom at home. At the same time if I wait until my husband retires from his job it may be too late for me to get a job at all.

the last time I applied for a job was last August. I had my interview at that time and the employer said she might hire me in November. I did not make any follow up call she said I should call her. I figured, why I will call her? if she wants to hire me, she will be the one to call me. Next week will be November already. I don't expect to be hired anyway. I will just stay home for a while.

Have there been any updates on this job? Or did you never hear back from this employer? I don't know, but if a potential employer told me to call them back, I'd probably do so. Otherwise they may not think I'm interested and I'd lose out on the job. Happy mylotting!

Oh!! I think you have a good idea on this. This employer maybe is thinking that I already have a job now because I did not follow up. She even told me to call her a week after but I did not do that. Anyway, my problem is that it is too far from my residence, I have to drive 35 minutes in the interstate and business highway which I don;t like.
