Is it worth stressing out about work?

A colleague of mine is currently really stressing out about work. There is a project she has to complete and she panics because she doesn't have enough time. Of course she is afraid that if she does't do what she has been told to do she'll be in trouble with the boss.
But she is really making herself ill out of fear and worry about it all. I know we need our jobs - but we won't get fired for missing a deadline if we are honest about it and say in advance that we can't achieve the requested timelines.
Is it worth stressing out so much that you make yourself ill?

I'm not a person that stresses about work though I used to be one. In my first workplace I really made myself sick about the work and the responsabilities, but then I switched job and started working offshore, there I really understood how it's important to forget your job once your shift is over. Because you work 12 or 14 hours in a row then you are off, and you need to be off or you'll go mad. That has been good training for me to understand you don't need to stress too much about it.
When I switched job again I really was a different person and I no longer worry/stress about it. Once my workday is over, it's over, I shut the office door behind me and whatever happened during the day doesn't exist anymore.
And I don't think it worths stressing, at all. You have a life, and a life is worths living, not stressing.

Working 12 - 14 hours sounds hard. I agree, there needs to be a time to leave work behind so you have a chance to recharge your batteries.

In my opinion nothing is worth stressing yourself out so much that you make yourself ill. It's going to be harder to finish that project if she's so stressed that she's sick. I agree that letting your boss know in advance that you can't finish it in time and give a good explanation as to why shouldn't be all that bad. As long as it doesn't happen repeatedly I would suppose.

I agree. When I am getting stressed I become less efficient. So it's better to take a breath, calm down and start again.
