Wedding rings (part one)

Men, if and when (if you haven't already) ask a woman to marry you, what kind of engagement ring would you choose? Would it be a diamond? Does the size of the gem matter? What's your views on this. I'm curious.

I'm a woman & my point of view on the matter is... Every woman has certain prefernces in jewlrey; silver, yellow gold, white gold, red gold, platnium... Diamonds, rubies, her birthstone (or a combo of yours & hers). An engagement ring is a symbol of a couples commitment to each other. And (like a wedding ring) shows unity. I think the best way to choose a engagement/wedding ring is to choose it based on your partners jewlrey style. It'll show you pay attention to her taste & respect her style. As for size - we want it to be noticable, but not uncomfortable to wear, KWIM?

We selected it together, so there really wasn't much doubt, it wouldn't have mattered what ever she wanted she would have gotten, it might have just taken a little longer if it was ultra expensive.
