Of late I am not able to walk fast and climb stairs also fast. I feel something is heavy in my heart. Doctor says due to no walking exercise this happens and asks me to walk at least half-an-hour. Can you walk and climb stairs fast?

If I walk fast in the stairs, not only I cannot talk but I feel my heart is coming into my mouth. It takes 15 minutes to become normal. This I noticed when I was working, where lift was under repair and we had to climb four floors to run and sign in the attendance register.

No. I can't walk fast. Now a days i put on more weight and even walking slow is becoming a problem for me due to knee pain. Climbing the stairs is a punishment for me

I think many ladies are facing this problem. But there are many, who are not very thin and more aged than me, who are walking fast and climbing stairs also fast. God's gift must be for them.

That is the problem for me too. Yesterday Doctor asked me to undergo thread mill test. May be I am fat and do not walk, that is the reason for me.

I can walk pretty fast and climb with no problems. I know doctors say that you need to keep walking as you get older or else things start to stiffen up and you slow down and then things start to hurt due to poor circulation.

Yes, I am really a fast-walker and I can climb stairs with a high speed. When I was in middle school, I had to walk fast and went ahead of others in order to have a meal quickly. At that time, I had formed a habit of walking and climbing stairs fast. Now, although I don't need to walk fast again, I have been accustomed to doing it and I don't want to make a change. Happy myLotting!

I can not see that well, and I have a problem with mobility and balance, so if I tried to walk fast, and climb stairs fast, I'd probably fall flat on my face. It's easier for me to walk slowly, and give myself the extra time to get where i am going, instead of trying to get there in a rush.

Slow and steady wins the race. You are right. Instead of going fast and falling on face, better to go slow and reach the destination without any hurt. I am also walking very slowly now-a-days.

I've always been an active walker and even now when I am over 60, I can still walk quickly and run up stairs - as long as there are not TO many of them!

I wish you continue to do this. May be my weight is an impediment to my speed.

Walking fast is some kind of exercise like jogging - I don't usually walk fast.
Hello Buchi_bulla. I am not fast-walker. I usually walk at a medium step when I go to work from my apartment to my office. But if there is not time enough left for me, I will accelerate my speed to make sure I am not late for work. I don't like to walk fast unless I have to. I think that I can walk fast, but when it comes to going upstairs, I feel it tiring when I walk all the way from the ground floor to the seventh floor.

My God climbing stairs for seven floors? That is IMPOSSIBLE for me. You have lift in your apartment is it not?

There is not a lift. If it is above eight-floor building, then a lift will be made. My apartment is on top of the building. Anyway it is a good exercise to walk up those steps. But when getting old, I think that it will be a little more difficult for us to walk that high. When my mother comes to pay us a visit, she has to stop to have a rest on the way upstairs. Luckily, my parents live on the second floor. Good night, friend.

only if I'm running late... adrenalin... hehehe... Hmm, I live on the 3rd floor so when I'm excited to get home,,, I sort of run as well... But 30 mins of brisk walking does a lot for your health... Just make sure you don't overdo it...

Hi,Buchi,I am self observing my ability to climb stairs fast since 10 yearsi.e from my 35th year.As you said i felt some change from that age to now. That too i am having habit of smoking. When i discussed this issue with my friend, who is a Doctor,he told that you get some tiresome feeling and you feel uneasy while climbing stairs even slowly also due to 2 reasons. One is smoking and second one is your growing age.Second one i can't do anything and at least in the case of first one,i try to reduce the habit.Have a nice time and happy mylotting.

Take this mylot and especially this discussion as a platform and please try to slowly reduce the smoking habit my friend. Though we are no one to tell you this, for your future health's sake, please do this. Already I am noticing too many health problems in me day by day and I feel ashamed to say this to family members as to pain here and pain there, heart heavy, stomach problem etc. So why add some more to that. Let our oldage be peaceful and without trouble to others. I am telling this to me also not only to you. Sorry brother if I am wrong.

Hi,Nodiri, Chennagidiya...thank you Buchi,or your valuable suggestions and i take it positively and i am happy to hear from you.Not that you are suggesting,i am already start reducing smoking as my daughters are quarreling with me daily. When they are suggesting/requesting/ordering...i have decided to honor them. As you are suffering from small health problems like pains etc,try Ayurveda medicines. You can try honey +lemon juice combination in the morning, eat raw Garlic petals, use more turmeric powder in curries, eat leafy vegetables more and finally drink finger millet soup every alternate day. Have a healthy day.
