What is the need of C while Java is here?

I have learnt C and Java both. Both have similar syntax and similar functionality. What you say about it?

ya, C and java both may be having quite similar syntax n similar functionality......... concept of pointers in C in better than java and at the same time java is object oriented language n C is procedural oriented language..And concept about applets is not there in C....java is basically internet language used to create web pages n so on...

basically java is so powerful that there's no requirement of other programming languages.
