Common mistakes in relationship

Mistakes are inevitable. They are bound to occur. Why some are avoidable some seem to be out of control.
I have been on and off from many relationship not because I have a bad attitude but as a result of the other partner not living up to my expectation.
According to my friends, am building a castle in air, romance gotten only from books but I don't think so. It just that I give blind eyes to a warning signal hoping things will change for a better. This one mistake I make most time because just hoping without tackling the issue will yield on result. I can hear someone say "faith without work is death".
In your opinion what do you think are some mistakes commonly made in a relationship

The most common and serious mistake in relationship is extra affair without the knowledge of the partner.

I feel that the lack of understanding and adjustment is the most common mistake that is made in a relationship. But this mistake can result in huge losses..It can even result in the break of the relationship. It is always better to understand the partner very well. Only when you try to understand a person, you would be able to adjust with him.
