Ex President Soeharto, Hero Or Villain?

Well, although he do that ( which we will never be sure about supersemar since there are no proof about it ), but he make the Indonesia that already falling at that time because of soekarno leadership ( at that time Soekarno start being dislike by the people since he is support the communism, declare himself president for life, and price of daily life item is so expensive at that time ). Soeharto have lead us back, and make our economic become better. I don't really sure Soeharto never make a false supersemar and become the president of indonesia, we can accept the economic disaster at that time. And maybe also, we become a communist country now if Soeharto never take action. Anyway, i also dislike soeharto for killing more then 80.000 Communist prisoner at that time ( although there is no proof about that event ). Thanks

c`mon. i think you must read many book of people testimony about PKI. there are many inoccent people which never want to cooperate Soeharto and Soeharto never like that people and the people suspect PKI agent`s. how come the President act like that? I never like his style of Lead Indonesia. Yes, I admit that he make Indonesian become better but it only from the outside side. had you ever that indonesia has a lost generation? it caused by style of Soeharto. He never like a people which admire Soekarno even the people is not a communist

Yes, although i don't agree with his act, but the act actually understandable. He do that to secure his position. If he not do that, i will not doubt that at that time, maybe until now we have peace for a very long time, since there will be rebel everywhere and every one will live on fear almost every day. And like i said before, he killed 80.000 people in bali ( although there is no proof about this ) who are supporter of communism or supporter of soekarno. Like i said, he was a hero, and also a villain. But unlike soekarno, which after his gone, he then considered again as a hero, since he is a Sang Proclamator. Too bad, Soeharto doesn't have the honored. But now, people start complaining about how bad life now compare to the life in Soeharto regime. I think that how our people think, always looking back.

so lord do you think when we are in under Soeharto, Indonesia will be better than now?

Well in soeharto days, the government only have one voices, so it all depend one that one voice only, if than one voice is good, then the governmental will be good, and if that voice is bad, then all the country will be at bad condition. Now there are too many voices, and most of the voices fight for it own selfish ambition and mostly not for the people. I don't which one is better, i will wait and see. Thanks for responding.

Well i don't think the Indonesia will be better now if Soeharto Still lead our country. Like i said, at Soeharto time, he is the only person that will create decision. Anything that he said, will never ever get any rejection. So he end up being a dictator. But today condition although a little better, but the confrontation between party is too much since this time, most of what president say often get rejection by the DPR with no good reason. Anyway, that's what i think.

Well, Soeharto have a good point and also a bad point. At least now, the press can do what ever they want, the people who were protesting not end up in jail, and although corruption still exist, but the number has been reduce. Also, the last year of his regime, Seoharto have so many problem, that if he stay as our president, i think the economic we have will be far more worst. Well at least, that my opinion.
