It is true to be exposed or long hours on the internet using the traditional CRT Monitor a.k.a Cathode Ray Tube is very bad to your health. CRT Monitor is like an Xray machine or the XeroX photocopier. Household Television is also using CRT but if you are watching TV your distance is far whereas in front of the PC with your traditional monitor is very bad to your health.

Every electrical and electronic device and equipment radiates electronic signals of various frequencies and amplitude/strenghs. Manufacturers of these devices take appropriate precautions to see that these radiations are very small and hence are absolutely harmless to our health. Cathode Ray Tube/CRT devices such as Computer Monitor or Television, X-ray Machine, Photocopier, for that matter electric lamp, fan, refrigerator, phone, mobile, etc. are similarly manufactured and hence are harmless. Hence even long hours of exposure to CRTs or TVs are no health hazards. They, Monitor or Television become harmful when you strain your eyes by improper positioning (eye problems) or posture (back problems). Avoid them. Do not have any misconception about any new technology. Try to be yourself INFORMED USER by getting true information rather than believing rumours. Enjoy all new inventions and make your life more comfortable.

Thanks for the comments and response "swezax" I agree with your opinion that 'Manufacturers of these devices take appropriate precautions to see that these radiations are very small and absolutely harmless to our health'. I think being expose at the computer for 1-2 hours is not bad, but for long hours it can cause eyestrain like what you have said eye-problem. Another thing is that Cathode Ray Tube/CRT is just similar to X-ray Machine. I remember when had my medical examination the radiologist/x-ray technician is very careful in performing the operation and he is wearing his safety gown. In addition, if you have been x-rayed doctors adviced after 4-6 months for you to be x-rayed again.
