How many tv's in your house?

Working or not? How many do you use? We have 3 in the house but only use 2 - for now as I want to eventually set the other one up soley as a gaming console tv. We did have 5 in our house last year then we moved & gave one to a friend...then when we moved last week, we took another one to the dump as it didn't work & no one on freecycle in my area was interested in taking it for spare parts or to fix it. Now we have 3 - it's going to be interesting setting up the 3rd as a gaming tv because it's one of those old ones that doesn't have a remote & you have to turn the dial to change the channel...therefore no av plugs...maybe I will just have to use it for my old atari & originaly nintendo lol.

I am thinking of putting a tv in my daughters room so she can watch all her tv shows & dvds but at the moment, she uses the one in the living room which is fine by me coz she's 2 1/2 so that way, I know what she's up to most of the time

Oh yes I think she is pretty young to be in her room by herself with a TV. My daughter is grown with a husband and daughter. They are living with me at this time. My granddaughter is 3 years old and she too watching TV in the living room. Have a great day.

Hi! Well we only have 2 tvs here at home. There's one located at the living room while the other one is in my cousin-in-law's room. We seldom use both cause it has no cable plus my hubby and I are usually out working. We only get to use it during the weekends depending if there are any good shows that are scheduled in one of the local channels.

We have three television at home but we do not use it at the same time. Most of the time, we watch the same show as a way to bond with family members.

I had 3 tv's in my house but now there is only 1. The first one broke down and got fixed a few times but it became expense to fix because the parts that keep breaking were no longer manufactured and it was really expensive to fix/get new parts. The other one was a smaller tv and it was in my room once but we gave that one away to a relative. I think it's still at my relative's house if they haven't thrown it out. And the first TV i had was sold to a second hand shop. We now have a decent TV that is Panasonic branded. It is not a plasma or LCD flatscreen tv so it is quite heavy and takes up some space. I think that is good in case someone breaks in. They won't be able to steal the TV since they would need many people to carry the tv.

You gotta love the big old tvs for that reason!!

This is true however, I remember when I was a kid we had one of those old ones with the wooden frame & legs...Anyway, I was running past (I would've been about 8) & I had some glass marbles in my hand & 1 went flying out & hit the tv screen & chipped the inside screen!! lol
• Australia

Definitely, they also wont break as easily when something hits the screen. I remember watching a guy play the wii and he let go of the controller and it broke his LCD TV. He was flipping out.

I own 4 tv's. The main one i watch is in my room. I have the oldest one in the other room. I watch it when im out there cooking or sewing or anything else. It acts up sometimes when you first turn it on but mostly it still works. They are both the 15" tv's. I have another 15" in the storage and a little 5" tv. When i get ready to buy a new 32" flat tv they should be very inexpensive. It will be awhile. Prices are already dropping.

It was my original plan to buy a flat tv. I had 1 15" tv and the 5"tv for the kitchen. Then my friends needed money and i bought another 15". So i thought when the old one stops working i would buy the flat one. But then somebody stole (i know who) the remote to the tv i bought from my friends. They also needed more money so they sold me another 15"tv that looks like micky mouse (the frame). The 2 i bought from them share a remote. So i figure buy the time i get down to one tv The big flat ones may be about $200. or less. Impatient i can wait for the good things to come.

We currently have 4 televisions in our house we used to have 5 but the one stopped working so we put it out for the trash man to take. There is our main living room television, then my husband and I have a small one in our bedroom and then both my daughter and my son have televisions in their rooms. We used to have one in our sun porch that was mainly used for either games or dvd but my daughters television took a dump and lost its volume so we took the television from the sun porch and put in her room. We are planning on getting a flat screen for the holidays and I think once that happens I am going to take our main living room television and put it back into the sun room so we can have a television in there again.

I used to have that many but have since cut down by giving away ones we didn't use & throwing out the ones that didn't work anymore - there's only me, hubby & our 2 1/2 year old daughter so we don't need so many tvs

Just like most middle cl people, we have two. If one is blessed with good apartment, have 2-3 TVs can be considered good so that when one is watching his or her favorite prog other is not disturbed and also not forced to watch unwanted prog.

I have 2 TVs in my home. One is in the living room and the other is in the bedroom. I often use the one in the bedroom because I like staying on my bed and watching TV. This TV could be connected with the U-disk,and we can down load some movie from internet.

Well, this my sound as extreme, but we have like 7 tv sets here. All of them are working, but we dont use all of them. So my parents are thinking of giving away 2 of them. They are small tv sets that we have in the kitchen and my parent´s studio. I have my own TV flat screen, I have that one outside for the mean time because in our room it would be too crowded. (Outside in the closed backyard under the roof), Hubbie and I use it for gaming mostly but we watch movies in it as well. Oh, and the movies we watch sometimes we use the laptop as a tv set connected.. but not that much, thats only for other stuff that we use it for.

I've never had that many...if you think having 7 is alot, then read one of the previous posts here...a fellow mylotters house is that big that he has 17!

I guess it depends on why you would have 17 tv sets and what you would use them for. Id had to read that post. In my case, one TV set is mine. The others are my folks. Since I moved here for a while from my apartment.. thats why 7. I had a friend who use to have 25 tv sets but that was because he used his house has a studio type of thing and needed the tv sets each for a different function!.. go figure!

Go Nintendo! Whoo! =D Anyways... We have three televisions in our house. One in the living room, one in my parents' room (which my mom wasn't very happy about at first - she's not big on technology), and one in the den which is sort of the place where the kids hang out.

It's always good to have a few tvs so there are no arguments over watching tv programs...how is your mom handling having a tv in her room?
@Staraven (160)

6 Nov 09
Yeah, it's great to not have the arguments all the time! My mom's pretty much okay with it now. She'd be happier if we lived in a cabin with no electricity (and I am NOT over-exaggerating here), but I think she likes knowing that she can watch her own programs (mostly paranormal) without as many interruptions and noises as there would be if she watched them in the living room, which is always crowded.

I only have one tv in my one-bedroom apartment. It's a very small one. I moved last year and I had two tv's then. However, I moved to another state so I didn't have room for the second tv that was very old but was a die-hard. I'd really like to have a larger tv but haven't started to save for it so I guess I don't want it that much. I'm guessing I could get one on freecycle but I haven't posted anything yet.
• Australia
2 Nov 09
Keep an eye out coz in my area on freecycle, I have seen a few tv's being given away...you have it better than some though - when I first moved out of home, I was 16 & didn't have a tv for a while

We have 2 TVs in our house, the one is old and doesn't have any more remote, but we bought a universal remote for it was a hassle to stand up and change the channel, the other was is much more expensive and big which is placed on our living room. Lol. I'm dreaming for a flattron that can be placed on the wall, very cool.
• Australia

Having a flattron would definately be good or even the new no boarder tv that has just been released.

Wow? I didn't know about that new no boarder. I'll check it out. Thanks for informing! Happy mylotting!

We only have one TV in our house. There are four of us and it hardly gets watched most of the week. We do not let our kids watch TV during the week, but come the weekend, they like to watch their favourite shows and play the play-station. My wife and I have our favourite shows too, mine are mostly sports on the weekend and I play the play-station with my son occasionally too. I see no need for more than one TV at the moment, but perhaps when the kids are older we may get another one! For now we are happy with our four computers! We spend more time online than watching TV!

I have two TVs in our house. One in our bedroom and 1 in the main hall. The one in our bedroom is from Philips. The other one is Sony brand. All are working well.
• Australia
2 Nov 09
That definately seems to be the norm - having 2 tv's
• Malaysia
4 Nov 09
In Malaysia this is usually the case, two TVs per household. Some richer family may have more than two. Son has one and daughter has one too. My late friend watched tv in the hall. His wife and daughter had one in each respectively in their own separately. But they are not rich.

we have just one TV and also one TV tuner card for the PC monitor. not a big fan of watching TV, only for news and occasionally sports and discovery/natgeo. we also have an old TV (B&W) which is not working and there is no one who can repair that...so its just junk.
• Australia

You could always recycle the old b&w tv into a fish tank or something - I have seen that done before
