Have you ever carved your intials in a tree when you were younger?

I used to see this in movies when I was younger and I did carve my intials into a tree. I think it is great idea because you can go back to that tree when you are older to see if your intials are still there. It would be like your own trade mark from the past. I have done this when I was a kid. My initals are still there I think it is so awsome. I hope they stay there for a very long time. I am excited to see how the carving turns out in a couple more years.

Yeah, I use to do it and not only on the bark of the trees but also on the skin of the banana tree. I like to write my name using a pointed stick, pointed icepick or knife. I write anything ranging from name, different symbols so that when I become a student i like to write in graffiti wall likes vandalism too and leave my initials name. I feel happy after doing it, But it is now, forbidden thus I decides to focus my attention and divert it to more important things likes writing and drawing.

No, I haven't done that before. I have been tempted to do it sometimes. But I was always afraid of getting caught be someone and wussed out of not carving my name on it. I guess it would be cool to see it in the future and maybe show your kids or friends.

Oh yes I did!! I can still remember where I carved my name along with my friends. Its really amazing when you go back and the tree still have your name on it. It just brings memories from the past, like why and how did you carve your name on it. Its just a wonderful feeling.

Hello friend, I did,i remember when i was 16 i guess, there's a big mango tree infront our house back in my province. I carved my name in it,but i found out that, the bark grows back,so,it needs to be re-carved from time to time. When i got married and stays in another place, and every time i visits my loved ones in our province,i always try to retouch my name, the bark that grows back makes the engravings fade. So,i guess, now it's gone...since i was not able to visit my tree for 4 years now.

I did and it was a long time ago. I don't even know if my name is still there or if the tree is still living. I went to a distant resort and I said to myself that I will be back here in the future and decided to make a mark for myself. So I carved my name on one of the trees there. Poor tree. I just hope I can really get back there in the future. I'll be very happy if I'll see my carved name is still there. shadow41

I've thought about it, but everything i read about carving suggests you are killing the tree slowly, and I started to think thats wrong, if I was gonna put my intials on one I think I would make a plaque and nail it to the tree...lol

Oh yeah, absolutely, I carved my initials in quite a few trees when I was younger and today though it is kinda difficult to see them in one tree, they are still there. Also, I carved my initials, in a board on someone's house. And just for nostalgia, I recently checked to see if they were still there and just stood and shook my head in disbelief. Of course, that is because I carved one of those hearts with my initials and those of a girl that I once loved on that board. Then I had to deal with the fact, that it was kinda corny in a way and that I can't believe how things turned out between the two of us.
