Stupid calls to 911? How stupid can people be?

I know a firefighter, he always tells me about the stupid calls they get at 911. People that call 911 for things like 'my dog doesn't want biscuits' and stupid kids or even adults making jokes. I can't see how stupid people are!! 911 is for emergencies, while an idiot plays a joke to the operator there might be someone dying that cannot get to speak with the operator...I didn't know they used to get those, but really...grrr....

Yeah in here 911 have the same problem. I must say i have done that kind of jokes, but i was like 12 years old, and didnt think about it. I did that with a couple of friends at a public phone on my school. As i said, we didnt think it through, but now i have realized how bad doing that was.

Hello friend,in my country the same problems occured.They just want to have fun but wrong place and wrong time.They don't think that the fake call might give trouble for others who really in emergency case.Those trouble makers should be punish.

It is a shame that people do things like that. you are so right when you say that someone might not be able to get through with a real emergency. and another thing it is our tax dollars that are paying for these people to play their silly little games. their phone numbers should be tracked and they should have to pay, or be charged with a crime.

I agree with you. I also hear some strange things from BBC radio. at 9 Sep 2009, some people called 999 for fun, so the radio warned people, if they do it they would take responsible for their behaviours.
When I listened to it I felt these people very funny, how can they make jokes with these numbers, I never think my friends will do like these people.
to me they seem from different planet.
