Scary thing happened to me today

Scary thing happened. Well for the first time, I'm living in a place that has stairs and well. I was coming down the stairs today and well I guess I lost my footing and I slipped. Omg, I thought I broke something. But I'm okay. I have never fell down stairs ever. I'm a clumsy person, but never on stairs. It pratically knocked the wind out of me. I guess the reason I didn't get badly hurt today is because I only fell down three stairs which were at the very top. I think if I would have fallen all the way down I would have been hurt more. But anyway, I'm sore a bit, but nothing broken. My husband was very worried, thankfully he only works 5 mins away.

That's a first that I have heard that my name is Indian. Although, I had a friend whose name was pretty close to mine and she's indian and her name is Krishna. I'm not Indian though, I'm African American. Here in the US I think its more of a white girls name. But I think my mom would be interested to know that it sounds Indian as well. I will try to take care more often. I am more careful with going up and down the stairs now.

It is good that you did not break any bones... Next time be very careful especially in climbing and going down the stairs. Especially if you are pregnant... Oh no! Please be careful!

Not pregnant. thank God for that, But I do plan on being more careful, now that I use the stairs alot in my home. Mostly everything, but the kitchen and the living room are upstairs.

Scary realising that we are more than we expected. The clumsy once I mean. Really for me falling down the stairs is a "game". I think I can now realise the way I'm gonna fall, and I kind of react instantly in order to fall and get as less as hurt as possible. thank God you weren't hurt badly, and I hope you never get hurt. I hope your stair has rails. If don't, put these with the grips on that you can be kept up all the time.

Aw, yeah, part of my stairs has a railing like the bottom. Then theres a corner and that corner is were I fell at the top of my stairs that has no railings. I am living in an apartment at the moment. I don't think I ever want to have stairs again. We aren't planning on staying here longer anyways.

Do be extra careful in future, yeah. I think some people carpet their stairs; might be a good solution for those mini falls. If you have it with carpet already, that's cool. I have many times made a stumble fall here and there too; inevitable, really. Take care yeah..

Yes actualy the town home that I am living in the stairs are carpeted. I guess I was lucky in that area. But the bottom landing if I made it all the way to the bottom it is wooded and concrete underneath, so that would have really been bad.

I hold on the railings and this is to avoid myself stepping wrongly. When I was young, I used to worry what if I fell down. Later on, I was afraid of escalators, but now I try to climb 3-4 steps in one step. Not afraid, but I am more careful especially with steps.

Yeah, I mostly use railings when I am going up and down stairs. But were I live at the top of the stairs does not have a railing but the bottom of the stairs do. Thats one thing my husband and I hate about it. I am actually afraid to go on escalators and now that I have fallen down some stairs, I think that it will make me even more fearful of the escalators and possibly stairs.

Hi, I remember when i was around 4-5 years old, we use to live in a very big house. And once i was in a delightful mood and merrily singing a song while coming down the stairs i slipped and came down from top to the bottom in a flash! I wish some one had video taped it as it could have been very funny and definately a good way to climb down the stairs! Cheers, Tutul

hi trisha 27 I am so glad you did not break anything, I was not so lucky, and Idid not fall down stairs either. I tripped on a odd spot on the sidewalk behind the cafe I was going to go to get some breakfast. that fall sure queered the breakfast, instead I was rushed by paramedics to e,r and then hospitalized with a crushed shoulder. had to have a shoulder joint replacement so you were indeed lucky. You could well have broken a leg or arm, wow. I bet your husband was really worried, and glad you did not get badly hurt.

Yes he was extremely worried. He rushed home worried about how he was going to find me. I think though that if I was pretty badly hurt though I would have called the paramedics though and then him and told him I was hurt right away. But well, I suppose I'm lucky for not breaking a thing.

Hi. trisha27. I also am very glad that you were not seriously hurt too! Falling down the stairs is not an exciting thing to feel! I have stumbled and tripped down the stairs before too, but I have never fallen though. I have lost my balance so many of times, especially when I am wearing flat, soft shoes that interferes with me walking. Your husband was very sweet to worry about you. Take care and be safe!

I have to say you are not the only one who has done this. I have done this and i don't even know how many times. It does hurt just like you said, but i never have broken anything either by doing this and i guess its a good thing because breaking your tail bone would probably hurt really bad. I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who has done this either and I'm not the only clumsy one too. I used to have to take stairs at work and always though OMG because i would sometimes wear heels.

Yeah I would think that if I had broken my tail bone would have been horrible. My husband was like I could have broken my hip as well and yeah that would have been bad as well. Although I think breaking anything would have been so bad. I've never broken a bone in my life.

Wow, you were very lucky! Things could have been much worse for you. Is there a railing you can hold onto when you walk up and down the stairs?

I'm glad that you are okay. I use to fall down the stairs all the time when I was a kid. Luckily, I never broke anything. We live in a house with no stairs now :)

Hope you are feeling better. I don't know how long ago it was you fell. My mother fell down some stairs and broke her wrist. She fell down one stair at Christmas again too but thankfully only grazed her knees. I'm really accident prone but I seem to bump into doorjambs more and I also seem to bang my head often. Take Care.
