Have you ever travelled alone on a vacation?

Travelling alone is quite an encouraging idea to me but unfortunately I don't have that much guts to finally do it (with all the watching of crime suspense channel perhaps). So I hope you could share your experiences if you were able to go on a vacation alone and was able to enjoy yourself. I would love to read about both good and not so good experiences.

Hi! I have travel alone and I take a bus for a vacation to my relatives house at other places. Its very far from my house and take 10 hours journey. I like to go at night because when I wake up from sleep I will have arrive to the station bus at morning. Its fun to travel alone but its more fun if you have friends along.

Once when the bus almost hit another bus from opposite direction and that makes the driver stop the bus at the side for a while and whether everyone is okay. So, there is no emergency when I go travel even alone or with someone.

Hi, I have traveled alone with in my country many times and found it quite refreshing. When alone I find time to sort through my thoughts and think creatively... As you mentioned traveling with a group of friends is really fun when you are holidaying but for work I prefer to travel alone. I also get my work done this way without pending it.

I did travel alone to a place to look for my friends, then we went out for vacation together. The furthest I've traveled alone was from Australia to Taiwan, it was 8-hour flight + 4-hour flight, and in between there's a few hours waiting. I was studying in Australia, and my boyfriend was studying in Taiwan, hence I just took a flight to visit him there. I enjoyed the journey, as I got to know some passengers sitting next to me in the plane. Sometimes, it's nice to travel alone, as you can go wherever you want to go, unless you found a travel partner that really goes well with you. Just that, sometimes it can be a bit boring to be alone, as nobody discusses anything with you. But you'll get to know more new friends when you are alone.

In my younger days I liked traveling alone. I was able to go exactly where I wished to go, stay in accommodation that was right for me and spend as long as I liked in each place. Importantly I was able to stay at my budget. I was 18 years old when I traveled around Europe by train. I traveled alone but met many other travelers. It was interesting to talk to the local people. I traveled around the world for just over one year when I was 20 years old. I was on my own for almost all of that trip. The worst things that have happened to me when I have been alone were getting sick and falling down a drain in Malaysia and getting attacked on a lonely beach in the Maldives. These days I travel with my two young children. That is enjoyable but more demanding than traveling alone used to be for me.

I have traveled from the most northern part of my country to the most southern part of it. It's not a good travel. Not because of the travel itself but the mood of me.My travel's aim is hunting for a good job,so I am not in mood to enjoy myself. Now I have a not too bad job but have no time.I have a dream that when I have earned enough money I will plan a no-aim-travel around the world.

I always travel alone nowadays and enjoy it very much. This years I have been to Morroco, Spain and the Czech Republic alone for holidays, which I have enjoyed very much. I can see the benefit of company and have travelled with friends and the like in the past, but the benefit of travelling alone is the freedom to do whatever I want whenever I want. I can go anywhere and change my mind at any time without the feeling of guilt of letting someone else down.

I have traveled alone many times locally and internationally. But of all those travels they were all part of work. But in so far as vacation is concerned, I have always traveled with my wife and son. I do not see enjoyment if I travel alone and have a vacation alone.

i travelled alone and stayed for a vacation in one month at my parents' house. well, no one's around so i tried to find my solemnity there. i took brisk walking in the morning. then familiarized myself on how people commute from one place to another. then i found a bridge with a very pretty sunrise view. in the afternoon, i went to the beach either to swim or took some pics. when i got bored with reading books or watching dvds, i just stayed at the gazebo and drew the mountains in front of the cliff. this quiet moment with myself doesnt happen all the time, considering the hustles and bustles of the crowd in the city. well, i dont get to spend much except for food and souvenirs to keep. don't speak much of the people's dialect in that area but i survived coz they're nice and conversational enough to deal with. so there. Well, I was alone on my first airplane ride! But it was not something I liked. It just had to be that way because I had no one to accompany me and everybody was busy. I went to the province to have a vacation and visit my relatives. I was so nervous but it was very rewarding. :D

i'm sorry,i'm not travelling alone, but i think you have some question to think. 1.safe that is very important thing, wherever there have a bad guy in world.so ,you must pay attention to that. 2.food Different area have different food habits, sometimes you eat a wrong food, maybe you will sick. 3.medicine parpare some daily medicine, that is important,if you go to location, you can't find medicine that is fit you. this my suggestion.thank you!

I'm a woman and I traveled alone many times. Sometimes for business, but just one time for relaxation. Traveling alone for business is awkward for the first time, but after a couple of times, you get used to it. You know what you have to take to kill the time. Once I traveled for a whole week alone, just to get away from everything. I wanted to do some reflections into my own life, and plan for the future. Be sure to go to places where you have contacts, or friends. Be sure to call home everyday on a regular time. Be sure to have your cell phone. You never know what may happen. I'm not too scared of crime rates, as they only happen in certain areas only. But I am afraid of sudden bad weather, or in case I have an injury or get sick, or loose all my money (that happened once).

No. I haven't tried. I have ridden a bus in a different country all by myself. That is a great adventure to me because I did not know if I am heading to the right direction and because the language there was quite different from my own.

i like to go on alone vacation but have not tried it. i don't want to be alone so i may not do that. i don't have the money. sometimes if you go alone there are lots of fun you will miss. not just because you alone and not to talk to and accompany most of the time, but if you have someone with you who knows a lot of places to go and to do then then at least he can tell the places to have fun around while in a certain place. when you are alone it is hard to figure it out where to go not unless you have been there before many times. but if you only do some research on the net before going there, that is not enough to make sure or ensure that you will be able to enjoy or have fun when you get there. you might be loss many times and consume to much of your time looking for the place.

Yes, I have traveled alone last year, August to be exact and came back last April.I went to visit my sister in Florida. I couldn't believe I boarded a plane. I am so scared of boarding planes. I felt like dying whenever it took off and landed. But I enjoyed the vacation. It was the first time me and my sister saw each other after seven years. The kids were lovely. I had a nice time in Disney world and Sugar Mountain in North Carolina.

Yeah, when I was still in college and had to come home to my parents house during a break or holidays. Even in ordinary days when there is at least two days of vacation, I do come home to my parents. Better spending the vacation with my parents than with my peers. But today, I never to it alone as I have my family now and all members do travel together in every vacation we had.

I would love to try to one day but as of yet, I don't think I have the guts to do so specially overseas. Besides, I don't think it would be fun to go on vacation alone and not have someone to share the experience with.

I travelled long ago to Darjeeling all the way from Bangalore on an unreserved train ticket. It was a great adventure. I had to change trains and there was a railway strike near Calcutta, so I had to take the ferry across the Ganges. After which, I took the bus Calcutta to Darjeeling. It was a crazy time, but luckily I did not get molested. I must say that Calcutta is the safest place for women in India. My greatest adventure yet was my trip to Germany and Holland in the winter of 2004. I felt completely lost at the massive Frankfurt airport and the best thing is that I arrived there on my birthday! Best gift I could give myself. The highlight of my one month vacation was cruising the channels in Amsterdam on New Year eve. It was magical. And much too cold! Green laser beams streaked across the skies, connecting the three most important monuments in this crazy beautiful, tiny city. Virtual galaxies hung in the air, and fashion shows unfolded on the facades of buildings.
