Is there life on other planets?

Sometimes I sit at home a watch a movie about aliens and wonder if there really is life on other planets. It would be very cool to think that there are other beings out there living their daily lives. I wonder what sort of technology they would have, because most movies make us out to be the inferior ones. Maybe I will try to build me a spaceship.....

I think it's there? But is there intelligent life close enough to us that it could realistically get here? That is the question...
