You are right. I would like to add that apples eaten with their skin will surely help relieve constipation. Eating a banana after dinner will ease constipation. One has to munch and eat food slowly and drink plenty of water to be eased of constipation.

Apples are enjoyed all around the world for its delicious taste and nutritional value. There are several different types of apples ranging in color (from greenish yellow to shiny deep red), taste (from sweet to tart) and size in the market today. Regardless of color, taste or size, all apples are nutritionally the same. It is more beneficial to eat apples with the skin as it provides loads of nutrients. However, always remember to wash the apple thoroughly before use. Apples contain no cholesterol, fat or sodium. It is also an excellent source of dietary fiber and vitamin C and contains some potassium. Apples are not just healthy fruits; it is extremely beneficial in maintenance of health and prevention of diseases. This maybe the reason why the saying ‘an apple a day keeps the doctor away’ is so well known and might actually be true. Among the various nutritional and health benefits of apples some well known benefits of regular consumption of apples are: Apples are rich in flavonoids, which help in reducing the risk of some cancers like colon cancer. Reduce the risk of getting hypertension, strokes and lower the level of cholesterol. Reduce the chances of cardiovascular disease such as heart attacks. Prevents digestive problems such as constipation. People who consume apples regularly are less prone to be affected by asthma It helps in losing weight and also reduces skin diseases. Apples also contain calcium which is essential for healthy bones and teeth. Helps to detoxify the body and has an antiviral property which prevents viruses from settling in the body. These nutritional and help benefits of apples helps us understand why it should be a part of our regular diet. The best way to eat apples is to eat them raw. However it can be used for making juices, or in many other ways according to your taste. It is a great choice for dessert too. Also it can be encouraged to eat as snacks both for kids and adults. So whenever you feel the urge for something sweet, eat an apple instead of cookies, chocolates or all those unhealthy junk foods. It will satisfy your sweet tooth, make you feel full and is really good for your health. Some useful tips: When buying apples remember to buy ones which have been kept cold, otherwise they can become over-ripe in few days. And keep them refrigerated if you want to make them last longer without decay. Check for dents in apples and buy only hard and fresh ones. To prevent browning, rub the cut surfaces with a mixture of lemon juice and water. thanks to: http://www.maldivedigest.com/eng/apples.php just want to share this info about apples and its health benefits. thanks for reading.
