Do you still breastfeed your baby when he already has teeth?

My baby started to have two teeth at the bottom when he was 5 months old. At the beginning, he liked to bite my nipples when I breastfed him. I suppose he thought it's fun to see my reaction when I felt painful. After several times I told him not to do so, and he learned that, and never bite me since then. But, he has another two teeth at the top, so now he has four teeth now. Sometimes when I direct breastfeed him, his teeth makes my nipples feel quite painful. I understand he doesn't bite my purposely, but as the teeth are grown and sometimes I suppose it's hard to not let the teeth touch me when he's sucking. Do you still breastfeed your baby when he has teeth? Do you find it painful when you direct breastfeed your baby?

My Baby is now 8 months old, and she has also 2 teeth at the bottom. Just like you, initially she will bite, maybe due to the fact that her gum are just itchy and needed something soft for comfort. When I pull out when she bites me, later she understands that when she bites, she won't get her milk. I think I will continue to feed her as she is on her bottle strike and would not want to drink milk beside direct feeding.. guess I just have to bear with the pain if she starts to have another 2 at the top row..

I had to stop nursing my babies at around two months because I wasn't giving them enough nutrition, unfortunately. But I would not have nursed them when they had teeth! They have no idea they are hurting you. I think that when they get teeth you should either stop or express your milk and introduce a bottle.

Hi there, thanks for your response. It's good for you that you didn't need to go through the pain, though it's another experience (being bitten) too.
