do you type like you talk?

i find that when im typing a response that i sometimes let my mind run away with me and say more than would probably strictly be nessisairy. so the question stands as do you just type like the wind whatever comes to your mind or do you stop and think for a wile to structure what you say better? i mean for conversations on mylot and with friends via an im service not ike things for school or work i hope you do think about and edit those :)

No. Maybe you have a great poetic style. Perhaps talking conversation is not conducive to this. There are different genres of music. Some try not to offend, but others are a release of pent up energy. Both are great, sure. You can converse in both styles. I think both styles are needed, all different styles exist like personalities. Caring about peoples' feelings is great.

hmm i wouldn't describe myself as poetic though ill take it as a complement i think :) i definitely know what you mean about the music some are so peaceful and some could make just about anyone bust out n go crazy but in a good way. i tend to listen to energizing music most of the time tho i love some calming things too. tho ive got a violent mind i try not to offend in the real world because iv'e been brought up to "treat people how you want to be treated" so i really do try to stick to that at all times :)

To practice style is one of the reason I write. Commenting or blogging helps me discover things about how I like to write and what subjects interest me.

Hmmm. Good question. I think I do a bit of both. When I type, I say more than I usually would orally, but I also think about what I'm typing a little more than what I'm saying. I hate text speak, so I won't type like that very often. I'll only use it when I have a lot to say and I want to say it fast. I guess I've always found it to be easier to speak my mind through the written word than orally.

i think that i fell into a bad habit of text speak for a wile when i was in fact texting more than typing and i was doing it at work so i had to do it fast and hide the phone wile doing it. i still find myself typing the occasional tho or bcause but i usually catch it before i put up whatever it is i'm posting. i do agree it is easier for me to express myself in written form particularly when i'm talking to a person i don't know very well :)

Same here. It helps that I was had excellent English and Grammar teachers, so I really love writing. I also fell into a text speak phase for a while when I was about 13. My boyfriend still has a lot of those emails so I read some of them and was horrified at my bad grammar and spelling. That's why I tend to fix my mistakes and check myself when I write.

hi dracoserpintenes yes come to think of it I think I do type like I would talk to you or whoever I am responding to. and that makes it fun as long as I do not make dreadful typing errors. I was driven backto using my old Internet explorer browser instead of firefox as firefox was not loading my postings at all .IE is slow but it is working and that is what I needed to keep up mylotting and make a little extra money. Sometimes if I think my discussion is really important I will stop and figure out more what I should say instead. I do not type too fast as I am one to make these darned typos.

I do type what my mind is thinking right now and i also imagine the person is in front of me that i make sure he understand what i mean to say that all words coming up to me have a valuable information which could be beneficial to the person whom i a talking about end up in a sincere wording not just basically end up in a meaningless talk.

yeah, for sure when all the reader have different time zone, sometimes they feel tired and sleepy when they type that they write non sense and though even though i feel tired reading long discussion, i make sure that i understand at least half of the poster question. have a great day.

Reading alot of comments on this site I think it's safe to say that most people type the way they talk. There is a real stream of consciousness feel to alot of what people write which makes for more honest reading in my view. I'm the same. It just comes out of my head and onto the type writer...

hi, It always happens to me when i am in distrubing atmosphere. In general i write what ever i have in mind or talk. If lot of people sit with you are make noise while you are typing then i may obstruct you saying what you want to say and this is common problem to anyone.

well i guess i'm lucky the only person who disturbs my typing is my 6 month old when hes hungry so i don't have to worry about noisy people disrupting my thoughts so much :)

For me I think about what I want to say before I start typing so the words run through my mind as I type although at the same pace as my typing

i kindof make an outline in my head before i start and flesh it out as i type so its a little bit of both but i just sometimes get myself on a rant and just type without thinking about it.

Well, actually, how I type here is how I express myself verbally as well. There isn't much of a big difference on how I type versus how I speak. They're pretty much the same. I just say what comes to mind on any given subject. If I don't have much input then I'd think about it first. Even when I'm on messenger or email, I type like this. I only type "slang" when I'm on text message but that's only because of the limited characters allowed in a single message.

i think that typing so similarly to how you talk is a very good thing on this site it adds reality to the discussions. i use slang when i'm on an instant messenger as well as when i'm texting because usually i'm texting people through my instant messenger so its easier to not differentiate between conversations on there.

i try to remember to re read my post before hitting the put it up button though sometimes i go to fast for myself or i'm in a rush because i'm being yelled at by a baby :) i also tend to reread what i'm responding to or commenting on to make sure i have covered all points. and good luck to you also in all your endeavors big and small :)

What I say on Mylot is what I would say to my family, friends, even my son(depending on what we were talking about I would change what I would say) But basically this is who I am!

Yeah for the most part. But I think I talk way more. I tend to talk more then necessary when answering questions or talking to someone. I like to write a lot most of the time. Like when I am writing blogs sometimes I will come back even years later and edit the spelling mistakes and such. I like to write a lot and I like to talk a lot LOL. I think sometimes I just talk to hear myself talk cus sometimes nobody is really listening except me. Jen aka Kittykat7983

i don't talk as often as i type these days so i say most things online because theres never anyone around to hear me except the baby and though he enjoys listening he had no clue what i'm talking about :) i don't think i could find anything i typed years ago to edit it i loose everything except my artwork which i do go back to sometimes because i miss it.

I tend to type like I talk, with the exceptions of lol and brb. I often let everyone know way too much either way. I don't usually think before I speak and I do the same when talking online. It's something I am sure I will regret.

Yes, they are both the same style in my typing and talking. But the fact is,I can explain more clear though my typing. Acturally I am not a good speaker, sometimes I will feel difficult to continue in some topics, whatever I know what is my point or not, that is because I can not find the main words exactly.Tpying will solve this kind of problem,it gives me enough time to organize my words, most of the time I can explain my mind much better, even completely to others.

yes this is true if i type i don't have to stop and confuse people trying to remember a word because i can just pause and think for a wile to remember it before continuing on with no one the wiser unless i type dots :) i tend to have bad talking skills because i get nervous around people unless i know them very well.

I don't type the way I talk like in real life, because I STUTTER in real life. A LOT. If I were to meet you in real life, you wouldn't understand a single thing that would come out of my mouth. I'd be like "Sorry for the speech impediment here; crooked teeth, I don't talk much, i'm not much of a social guy", etc. That's the reason why I speak mostly with my fingers because at least I get my messages straight across. I can at least type out what I can't say with my mouth and elaborate more clearly here. If my hands were cut off then i'd be close to being mute. That's why I like to communicate through text and words better than my own voice. Much easier to understand BTW. With my mouth I don't get the luxury of getting the time to think about what to say. With words and text, it IS. Get what i'm reading?

first i love the name duo was always my favorite but hes probably every girls fave ;) i like him because i like scythes tho which is not the normal reason im sure. unfortunately no i probably wouldnt understand too well im horrible with heavy accents and small children mostly because im half deaf and really probably lucky in not deaf. its lucky that we live in an age where typing is so widely spread tho i can see how not talking well would effect your life negatively :( and yea i totally get what your saying :)

as far as the name i first made it when i was about 12 and ive fallen in love with it since then even if it isnt spelled quite right its individual and i tend to use it for everything. i think i add more words when i type as compaired to when i talk that you do the opposite is very interesting :)

This is called stream of consciousness and yes, I do type like I talk for the most part. Here I don't think it is an issue at all because if we do in fact type like we talk it is more like a true discussion, the only difference being that it is not done in real time like it would be if we were talking to someone face to face or even over the telephone. I've always been a fairly decent writer and that means that even when I am using a stream of consciousness, I am able to get my point across.

nice psyche lingo. i took a psyche class once but i rememberd more of the teachers wacky stories than the stuff that actually pretained to the class curriculum. ive never been a great writer and its gone downhill even more since i graduated highschool but id rather read a book than write one so its never bugged me over much.

Almost. My typing and my talking is almost same. Sometimes after typing i go through again for any spell or grammar error. Mind guides, I type, thats the mechanism goes on. Have a nice day.

it really depends on who im talking to in person weather i talk alot or a little because im very shy face to face i dont talk much to people i dont know but my best friends cant get me to shut up sometimes :D i think i think of better responses when im typing though because i have more time to think it over before putting it out there.

I don't type the same way I talk, because when I talk, my mouth works faster than my brain and I often add extra words unnecessarily such as "like", "um" and "and". I also tend to repeat what I say for emphasis, because I'm not good at making the pitch of my voice fluctuate. I also talk at a very loud volume, so if I were to try and imitate that on the computer, my caps lock button would always be on!

i guess my mouth gets away with me like that sometimes but its usually more because i cant remember what i was gonna say. i like the repeating thing thats interesting. and as far as volume im always quiet unless im veery exited or verry drunk hehe. but i do give people the glare of DOOM quite often if they dont listen .
