How to Control the Addiction.

For years I've been playing video games for fun not knowing the consequence i have to go through by playing. Most of us get lost in the games we play that we forget to tend to reality the fact that it couldn't really help that much in our life rather than entertainment. We get so caught up that we spend hours and hours just doing practically the same thing everyday, we forget that our body needs exercise, we need to eat our eyes need some rest . . and of course our electric bills. I have been addicted to some online games like R.F freestyle Ragnarok but i was so caught up playing Defense of the Ancients (DoTa) which was a custom map created for warcraft 3. I played 8hrs a day sometimes reaching up to 15, 8 was the least. I did not went to school during that time because I was so caught up that somebody might take my place in the net station(there was only a few spots where you can get a sweet spot where the area was cold and less crowdy ). Long story .. . To sum it all up i controlled my addiction through this methods and i hope you guys could contribute as well. 1. I started working out on the gym. - the work out made me feel good and every time i was finished i would usually go straight home and rest. Gave me no time to go to any Gaming Cafe. 2. Got busy in school - i am an i.t student and I'm always pressured by my teacher to work on my programs with 3 day deadlines i got so busy i enjoyed it and thought playing was gonna waste me some time. 3. Money going to waste. - while i was going to the mall i noticed some nice t-shirts and stuff that i could've bought if i didn't wasted it all on a 11 hour ticket which i used in the internet station. 4. Think out your goals in real life not in the cyber life - i need to finish school i have lots of things to do. Leveling up my character doesn't pay the bills in the house later on. These are some methods i worked with and it turned out good for me and i hope it could help others too. I'm still an avid gamer i just dont think you have to focus really on the game or better yet get ADDICTED

You're right, playing games online is only giving us entertainment. I was almost an addict to online games like World of Warcraft. I work during my duty hours, ignoring my work and what my boss has to say when i get caught, i tend to give an alibi to my bf when he wants me to go with him so that i can play, i don't tend to get back to all my friends messages when they want the team to hangout. Yes, my world revolved around the game only. It's when my bf talked to me that i have to quit this game because it has a lot of disadvantage.. Well yeah i gave it a thought and tried quitting, and thank god it was successful. I tried to spend most of my time with my bf or if not hang out with my friends. Watch movies with my family and having my 100% attention to my work. It was helpful spending quality time with my loved ones. And WoW is way too expensive for me to play now..so better really quit :D

You won't be able to break your addiction just all of a sudden. I'm going to 100% guarantee you that you will break your addiction when you get bored of it. Avoiding playing the game when you have a strong addiction is the worst thing to do since you'll want to play it even more. Therefore, when you get bored of it, you will naturally break your addiction to it and will stop playing it completley. At least that's what happend to me, which worked very well. I also recommended this to my own friends. Hope this works for you and good luck friend!

First off, yes games do indeed get addicting. The first game i got addicted too was Runescape which i spent almost 1 and a half years playing on. When i look back to this day, i don't know why i wasted so much time into playing such a 'horrible' mmorpg. Anyways, 3 years later i came to know about it by eavesdropping on my friends, and moreso, 2 weeks later i bought the game and started playing. I was really impressed with the game, for its a very high quality standard mmorpg, which made it very playable, and addicting. I stopped playing wow 1 and a half months ago, for the simple reason that i got bored of playing, and i realised it wasn't worth the time taken. So basically if you want to not be addicted to an addicting game, keep on playing it, you will eventually get bored of it. Also ask yourself, if it is actually worth your time.
