Where will computers be in 10 years?

Well about 2 years ago I got into computers and building them as well as overclocking them to get the most performance out of them. I can now officially say I'm an enthusiast from the amount of time, money and work I put into my computer. So through all this time I've seen the technology fly past, in a matter of weeks something that was top of the line would become mediocre. So do you think technology (Computers in particular) will continue moving at the speed it is now? If so, where do think they will be in 10 years time?

I say there probely will be, if they look anything like computers not or have the same name is a differnt story. Its like looking at consoles but PC's seem to take a lot longer to change there shape :)

I could say that I wish that in 10 years there will be computers in every home with artificial intelligence and the size of a telephone. The problem is that sometimes it is not so much the technology but rather how well people adapt to it and how it adapts to us. Take ten years ago, some predicted that desktops would become obsolete in 10 years replaced by portables. To some extent it is happening but portables' major positive point it's movability is still held down by it's negative point battery durability giving the niche for people who spend long hours on computer the need for desktops. There are changes that are very quick like the move from CRT to flat screens. Then technology like touch screen computers (with virtual keyboards and inset speakers) are slowly taking their place, with their main counter being their price. So what do I see in 10 years time, of course they will be more powerful, the software will evolve, portables will be thinner and possibly touch screen thereby removing the need for keyboards and making them lighter, batteries will be more durable and lighter and then possibly desktops will become less needed. The issue is not so much what will exist, technology is normally far ahead of what is commonplace, but what will we as humans embrace and use.

I read an article that some inventor wrote about what his vision of the future will be. His take on it is the technology is there but will take a few years to make it happen. What he describes was a computer about the size of a fountian pen. When placed in a holder would project the image you now see on a monitor on the wall or any other white service. It would also project an image of a keyboard on the table in front of you. As you place your hands on those keys it would detect it just like your keyboard does now and perform what you want it to. Sounds wild but he projected that it would be possible within the next 10 to 15 years. So many other things to that that need be worked out but as wild and crazy as it sounds what we have today we thought the same of not all that many years ago. It would seem in regard to technology the only thing that will ever stop it from evolving is our ability to imagine it.

computers be in 10 years - in 10 years, the computers will know our intent.
It is really a difficult question to give an apparent answer. According to Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, in 10 years, the computers will know our intent. In my opinion, things will progress with a high speed and become computers will become more intelligent and technical in the next 10 years. Portable, smaller and more lightweight, just like a cellphone will be the feature of the computers in the future. Of course, it seems that all things are unimaginable for the endless technolorh degradation, perhaps our next computers will not be based on a glass of water but what is living in the water. This is just a joke. It is really difficult to seize tomorrow.

As we all know that there's a big development of computers in the past 10 years. It truely makes the internet life amazing.Be frank I can't imagine the life in the 10years.Even no fantasy comes to me.The computers must be as common as water, which is not really common. There is an idea comes to my mind, will the technology be stopped when it's at the peak??

In future there might be no big size computer, everything including our cloths, roads, and almost everything will be a computer itself . They will talk to each other and serve us best way. There would be screens which could be folded and placed in the pocket. Our human body might also have microchips to help us best way.

Software developed very quickly. Then, new software often requires new hardware. Now depends on you, how long you can stay with the old software?

Yeah, the computer technology is developping very fast. I think it will be even fast in future. After 10 years, a whole computer will be only one touch screen. Mouse, key board, harddisk will be useless. We can use every thing online by wireless internet.
