Which one is better a freelance or regular fulltime

I am in a confusion state and struggling to choose which one is best option. I want to know whether freelance postions are better or regular fulltime job is better? I have faced the two options that is previously i worked in a fulltime job and what i observed is the salary and the work we do will never match. The work we do is overtime and the pay we receive is less and there is no growth after so much efforts. Like a freelancer at first i find a nice project but suddenly they cancel the contract and i am left without any projects. Daily i am searching and still no constant option for income. One thing is i earned a lot in the first month of the freelance project. So what do you people think in the present world which is best option?
