I do not know what everybody thinks about this matter, but Christmas is approaching soon. Well, giving is a joy but also it empties the pocket especially now after many of us have gone through this eceonomic crisis. What shall I do? Not give presents to friends children and only to close relatives or will they make it the wrong way? Please help!!!

I struggle financially with Christmas. I have 3 children and 14 nieces and nephews so you can imagine it can get pretty expensive. I only give to family. I also only give to Grandparents and the children in the family. But this has been discussed and agreed. My sister only gets for my kids and I get for hers but we don't get for each other. I'm sure if you spoke to your friends they would be understanding. Perhaps agree to buy each other something after Christmas or arrange to go out together after Christmas. If you really feel you have to do something for your friends, perhaps arrange for them to come around for dinner. That could be your gift to them. Or you could bake them a Christmas cake or mince pies, as that isn't that expensive to do. I hope I have helped a little.

Maybe buy the kids something to share. Like a board game or something they will enjoy together. You would only be buying the one present instead of two or more. The kids will enjoy playing together. I guess if you do it every year and you don't want no one to know your financial situation then you really are in a bit of a fix. maybe try buying gifts online this year as often they are cheaper than on the high street. Personally I love ebay. You can buy new and sealed gifts for half the price they are on the street. I don't know what else to suggest. It is difficult when people expect things.

Well, we are still planning on giving gifts to our extended family members, and I would definitely give gifts to my officemate and friends.. I think it's just really happier when we give gifts.. and I'm sure I'm going to receive gifts also so I don't mind giving.

Thanks for the coment. Maybe you are right. Giving makes you feel better and I hope it does not matter how ig is a gift as long as you mean it when you give it.
